Industry supporters rally for WV energy

jobs, pro-growth policies at State Capitol
Hundreds of energy industry workers
from across West Virginia rallied in
support of the tens of thousands of
hard-working men and women who
contribute to the state’s oil and gas
economy and for policies to maximize
the benefits the industry provides to the
state during a rally on the State Capitol
steps on February 21. To view a video

Industry leaders from both WVONGA

and IOGA highlighted the positive
impact, in terms of jobs, investment
and support, the industry is having on
communities across the state, while
urging the Legislature to pass policies
that would lead to further economic
growth.

“West Virginia’s oil and gas industry

is an economic driver, employing
nearly 20,000 workers directly and
supporting another 50,000 jobs across
our economy,” said Anne Blankenship,
executive director of WVONGA.
“The West Virginia Energy Jobs Rally
showcased the individuals who work in
the industry and highlighted the policies West Virginia Senate President Mitch industry representatives spoke at the rally

in between, the Dominion Energy
Charitable Foundation is investing in
communities across its WV service
areas. With a focus on human needs,
environmental stewardship, education
and community vitality, $635,000 was
disbursed to over 100 non-profits in
West Virginia in 2017. This past year,
children’s backs through Operation
Warm, supported efforts to feed and
house the homeless, partnered with
Operation Welcome Home to give
veterans the tools needed to find
employment after returning from war,
and sent aid after a 1,000-year flood hit
the state.
Dominion Energy believes that investing
in a community goes beyond a financial
gift and encourages all employees to
add long-lasting fingerprints in the
state by becoming service volunteers.
Contributing over 3,500 hours, these
volunteers from across WV compound
the value of financial donations by
giving their time and talents. Efforts
include packing bagged lunches for
veterans to take on trips for medical
treatment, making over 100 blankets for
local missions and shelters, purchasing
Christmas gifts for 50 impoverished
children and making repairs to parks
and cemeteries.

To qualify for the program, WVONGA and
IOGA members must be in good standing
with their respective associations. In addition,
members must do the following:
l Report claims within 48 hours of any
accident;
l Achieve and maintain a three-year loss ratio
of 65 percent or less;
l Implement and maintain a formal return-to-
work program;
l Attend at least one safety seminar per
year that applies to operational hazards,
or complete one BrickStreet online course
dealing with operational hazards; and,
l Implement and maintain an effective safety
and loss control program.
The more members who participate,
the more benefits we receive as a group.
Increased member participation and successful
implementation of the above criteria will help to
increase the amount of the discount each year.

your association staff. BrickStreet policies with
effective dates of September 1, 2017, and after
