1.2 Block Modeling

Objective
In this training you will construct a block model based on the 3D geology wireframes model files. The model will
have an upper constraint defined by the topography and use the ore body volume wireframe to control the internal
constraints between ore and waste. The resultant model will be used in the following section which deals with estima-
tion of grade/quality into the model cells. In this training, you will find principles and exercises associated with the fol-
lowing sections:

1. Introduction:
Exercises in this section are :
Create suitable prototype model parameters
Filling the 3D geology wireframe with block models
Combine block model files become one file
Optimised the combination of block model

2. Grade Estimation:
In this section you will estimate the grades on block model based on grade information on drillholes, the exercises
are :
Create estimation parameter (search ellipse)
Estimating grade into block model using some methods

3. Tonnes and Grade Calculation:

In this section you will evaluate the block model that has been estimated before to get tonnage of resources
(resources estimation)

1.3 Mine Design

Objective
This subject introduces you to the key Studio 3 features used for the creation of an open pit and underground mine
design which would typically form part of a feasibility study or a long term plan of a mine planning cycle.
Studio3 - Geostatistic Studio3 - Kriging Studio3 - Dynamic
Efficiency Anisotropy

2. Resource Estimation

2.1 Applied Geostatistic

This topic will gives you a understanding of the resource estimation and classification based on “Let The Ore
Body Speak” concept (AusIMM, Monograph 23).
You will learn :
Statistic, to analyze the database
Geostatistic, to define estimation parameter using variography
Kriging efficiency, to classify resources based on variance

2.2 Applied Kriging Neighborhood Analysis

This topic will gives you a exercise to define the optimum estimation parameter using Kriging Neighborhood
Analysis.
You will learn :
How to define the optimum estimation parameter, such as search radius, number of samples, and discreti-
zation
How to define the optimum block model cell size for resources

2.3 Dynamic Anisotropy

This topic will gives you a estimation method called “Dynamic Anisotropy”.
The dynamic anisotropy option allows the anisotropy rotation angles for defining the search volume and vario-
gram models to be defined individually for each cell in the block model. Thus, the search volume is oriented
precisely and follows the trend of the mineralization. This method useful for lateritic/alluvial/vein
grade estimation.
Declustering Normalization Simulated Model
Sets of Data Sets of Data

3. Conditional Simulation

“Simulation is not Estimation”

Geostatistical simulation techniques provide robust and valuable tools for helping to solve mining
problems associated with risk and uncertainty. This training will use CAE Mining (Datamine) Stu-
dio3.

You will learn :

Declustering the cluster data,
Declustering is very useful to avoid bias from cluster data

Normalization the sets of data,

Normalization is a function to transform lognormal data to normal data, because simulation
needs the normal data distribution

Simulation and E-Type Estimate,

Simulate points based on real data (sample)
E-Type estimate is the average of the simulated points

Validation
Validate the statistic parameter of simulation result to original sample data

Probability from each simulation based on cutoff,

Display the probability of grade based on cutoff of each simulation

Comparison of Ordinary Kriging (OK) and E-Type Estimate,

Compare grade from estimation based on OK and E-Type estimate based on simulation
NPV Scheduler 4 Studio5D Planner - Studio5D Planner -
Open Pit Underground

4. Long Term Scheduling (Open Pit)

In this training you will be given in reserve optimization and strategic open pit planning using CAE Mining
(Datamine) NPV Scheduler 4. The components of the NPV Scheduler can be summarized as:

1. Data and Project Preparation

2. Create Economic Model
3. Create Ultimate Pit
4. Generate Pushback
5. Create Pushback Schedule
6. Mine Flow Optimizer
7. Material Allocation Optimizer
8. Haulage Optimization

5. Mid Term Scheduling (Underground)

This subject will introduce you to flexible design types make it easy to customize mine development and production
stopes for any mining method. Derived Activities model other mining tasks, such as drilling and backfill, to be incor-
porated into your schedule. By creating a database of standard design definitions, design consistency is maintained
throughout a project mine site or company. Changes in the database are automatically applied to the design. In this
training you will use CAE Mining (Datamine) Studio5D Planner and Enhanced Production Scheduler
