Is it true? Is it April? Has spring finally arrived? Thank goodness. I don’t know about you, but to me
these past few years it seems as if winter just doesn’t want to end. It keeps on hanging on. But April has
truly arrived, and with it Easter. Both Easter and spring have so much in common. With them both
comes a renewal of life. Spring brings with it a renewal of life of nature, the grass, the flowers, the birds
and frogs and all of the little animals we see in our yards. It brings with it brilliant sunrises and long
afternoons after a winter of cold and darkness. And Easter is all about renewal of life as well, the
celebration of a morning of light, hope, relief, and deliverance after a long night of despair, ignorance,
and error. Easter celebrates the greatest of all victories: the triumph of life over death, of reconciliation
over estrangement, of freedom over the bondage of sin. Easter brings the renewal of Love. The Love
God has for us that he would send his only Son to die for us, to forgive our sins. So I ask that we all take this opportunity, this
renewal of Life and Love, and go forward with the Joy and Love that God has for us in our hearts, and to spread that Joy and
Love towards each other. It’s what this world needs us to do, it’s what we must do, and it is what God calls us to do.
On April 17th, our District will be holding a Formation Degree at St. Jude Council in Rocky Point. All Members who are
Second Degree Members or above are welcome to attend. Proper attire (jacket and tie) is required. The Degree will begin at
8pm sharp.
April 22 is also the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Supporting religious vocations has always been a priority for our
Order. Many of our Councils provide support to those discerning a call to the Priesthood or religious life through the RSVP
program. Through this program Knights help enable those men and women to realize their vocations. We ask that your council
gather together and say this prayer for vocations:
God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to serve in your Son’s Kingdom as priests, deacons, religious, and
consecrated persons. Send your Holy Spirit to help us respond generously and courageously to your call. May our community
of faith support vocations of sacrificial love in our youth. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
At the end of April, from the 26th – 28th, is the New York State Convention. I will be attending the Convention to represent
not only my Council, but the Third New York District as well. I will gladly bring you back a report and news of the
Convention at the next meeting. I hope to see you there.

COLUMBIETTES CORNER
WE CARE - WE SHARE

My Dear Sister Columbiettes and Brother Knights,

I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter with family and friends. Winter is officially gone and spring is in
the air. April, the first full month of spring, is a very busy month for the Columbiettes beginning with a
joint Columbiette/Knights breakfast on April 8th, the Suffolk Chapter Columbiettes breakfast on April 15, our
meeting April 18th, the Victorian Tea on April 22 and a major degree on April 24th. Wow, I’m exhausted just writing
all these events.

Speaking of the Victorian Tea, we are still in need of many volunteers. Please lend your talents to some of the
tasks required to make this event a true success. Some of the areas needing volunteers are, filling and wrapping
the baskets for the Chinese Auction which is part of the Tea, making sandwiches and desserts, selling chances,
setting up and cleaning up, serving the tea, and more. Please help if you can.

Another major event is the major degree on April 24th. If you know any new Columbiettes who have not made their
major degree please contact Elaine Addie and let her know.

Please keep all our sister Columbiettes and Knights who are ill in your prayers especially Joann and Joe Brandi,
Elaine and Jim Addie, Carol Tavis and her husband, and all who are in need.

I would like to wish all our April Birthday Baby’s a Very Happy and Healthy Birthday.

Please take note of my new phone number as I will no longer be using the 631 number.

May the peace of our Lord be with you always,

Betty Weeks, President

My Dear Nettie Knitters,

Wanted to let you know all your hard work and efforts in creating those beautiful

your ―LOVE‖ gifts (thanks Betty Leupp) in the boy or girl layette that we give out to the moms who
come to Birthright for help.
Please know that a newborn baby will be wrapped in warmth because of all of you. One handmade
