Chapter 4 MT Console Operation on 4-1
MTI/MAP/FCC
This chapter introduces familiar operations of MT console on MTI Server, MAP Server
and FCC.
Through this task, you can log in to the MT console to perform various maintenance
and test operations.
After MT Server and MT console are installed, the system automatically generates a
super account with the account management authority. The user name is sa and the
password is null.
After logging in as the user sa, you can add new accounts through the MT Account
Management task so that users can use their identities to log in and perform
maintenance and test operations within their authorities.
The default service port number the MT Server provides for the MT console is 7802.
The system returns a password modification dialog box, prompting you to modify the
password, when you log in to the MT console with a certain account for the first time.
System menu consists of Re-login MT Server, Obtain the status notification, Start the
tracing process, Set password, Logout current user.
Re-login MT Server: Through this task, you can re-log in to the MT Server
without restarting the MT console.
You can re-log in to the MT console with other accounts without restarting
the MT console.
The system can automatically deregister a user when the user performs
no operations for a specified period of time, that is, when it is time-out.
After being deregistered, the user must re-log in to the MT console to
perform MT operations. The time-out duration can be configured through
modifying the value of LogoutUserInterval in the OMCConfig.ini file in
the installation directory of the MT console. The unit of
LogoutUserInterval is minute.
Obtain the status notification: Through this task you can query the current
running status of different MT modules.
The running status described here refers to the connecting status between
service modules and the MT Server as well as the status of sub-MT
console process.
You can grant different accounts with different authorities by account management
menu.
The MT account authority includes:
Operation authority on the SMC MT console
Operation authority on the MTI Server MT console
Operation authority on the MAP Server MT console
Operation authority on the FCC MT console
MT account management authority
Message trace authority
The authorities on the SMC MT console, the MTI Server MT console, the FCC MT
console and the MAP Sever MT console include the authorities for the multiple
maintenance and management operations on the SMC, the MTI Sever and the MAP
Sever respectively. A menu or button is visible or available only when the current
operator has the corresponding operation authority.
Only the accounts with the MT account management authority can be used to perform
the management on the MT accounts, such as adding, deleting, modifying and
querying MT accounts, and querying MT interfaces.
When you use the account login the system, there is a interface created. click this
interface, you will see the interface attributes including interface no, local IP address,
remote IP address.

Chapter 4 MT Console Operation on 4-11
MTI/MAP/FCC
Each authority includes specific operation rights such as query and setting, and each
operation right corresponds to a specific maintenance function. The menus or buttons
corresponding to an operation right are available only when the operator that has
logged in has the operation right. In this case, the operator can conduct the
operations.
You need add a group first, then add a account. When you add accounts, you need to
choose the group which it belongs to. So that after the account added, it will have the
rights of the group which it belongs to.
The MTI Server MT console maintains and manages the MTI Server in the following
ways:
Monitoring Resources
Through this task you can query and set the parameters of the USAU.
Module NO: Module No. of USAU. To be entered manually. The value range is
1-128.
example for flow value: Suppose the USAU consists of two modules, the
module numbers are 1 and 2 respectively, and the flow values are 2 and 3
respectively. Then the 1st and 2nd sessions are initiated to module No. 1,
the 3rd, 4th and 5th sessions are initiated to module No. 2, the 6th and 7th
sessions are initiated to module No. 1, and the like.
Through this task you can query interface information. You can also trace message
interaction at the interface, facilitating debugging, problem locating and fault removing.
Interface Type: Interface type. [Example]: The interface type of the MAP Server
connected to the MTI Server is the MAP application interface.
Module NO: The number of the module connecting with the MTI Server through
this interface.
NOTE:MTI Server connect to MAP Server through configuration file. Even though you
did not set MAP Server information on MT Console, you also can see interface
between MTI Server and MAP Server.
Through this task you can monitor total number of CBNum resources, CBNum
resources usage and CBNum resources usage rate, you also can know the system
load.
When an SM is submitted, it is transferred by the SG, MTI Server and MAP Server
one by one, and finally reaches the SMSC. In each step of the message transfer, the
current processing module must record the information of the SM (sending
information and SM content) before it transfers the SM to the next module. When the
next module returns an acknowledgement or times out, the module returns an
acknowledgement to the preceding module according to the information of the SM.
As a middle module, the SG, MTI Server and the MAP Server use CBs of their own to
deal with the message transfer.
The MAP Server MT console maintains and manages the MAP Server in the following
ways:
Querying MS Location
Through this task you can set the GSM protocol version, as well as the network
priority of sending SMs in the case that both the networks of GSM and SGSN
exist.
GSM protocol version is the protocol version of the MAP layer. It includes
PHASE1, PHASE2 and PHASE2+. You need set the GSM protocol version on
the MAP Server according to actual situations of network equipment.
The network priority of sending SMs indicates that sending SMs through the
GSM or SGSN network first in the case that both the two networks exist.
MS Visitor Location:
This task can be used to query MS visit location (visited MSC). Actually, this is
a process of requesting route information in HLR.
Through this task, you can set HLR addresses, and set the mapping between
subscriber number segments and HLR addresses.
Before sending an SRI message, the SMC finds the destination HLR address
according to the MSISDN of the called party. The SMC sends the SRI message to the
destination HLR and then sends the SM according to the returned SRI_RSP message.
Note
The SMC sends an SRI message to the HLR to query the delivery route of the called
subscriber of an SM. The HLR sends the delivery route information to the SMC
through an SRI_RSP message.
You can set the HLR address to GI codes rather than to signaling point codes. You
can set 100 HLR addresses at the most. And for each HLR address, you can set
2000 subscriber number segments at most.
When the MAP Server acts as the server, it authenticates SMSCs requesting
login according to their IP addresses. The SMSCs whose IP addresses are not
set on the MAP Server cannot log in successfully. Therefore, you need to
maintain the interface information of SMSCs on the MAP Server. Besides, you
need to set flow distribution number segments for SMSC interfaces so that the
MAP Server can distribute MO messages and uplink MT messages according
to their flow distribution modes and flow distribution parameters.
Through this task you can set status timeout duration of the SMs when CB usage of
the MAP Server is normal.
Status timeout duration refers to status timeout time. For example, timeout duration of
WaitRspFromMSC is 60 seconds, which means the timeout duration that the MAP
Server waits for a response from MSC is 60 seconds. If the duration of an SM waits a
response from MSC exceeds 60 seconds, the system will release the CB occupied by
this SM to avoid too long occupation duration because the network side does not
return a response, ensuring normal delivery and receiving.
Here timeout parameter refers to status timeout duration when the CB usage of MAP
Server is normal. On the setting of the timeout duration when the CB usage rate
exceeds values of Threshold1 and Threshold2, refer to Setting Corresponding Status
Timeout Parameter of CB Threshold Values.
Through this task you can set the threshold value of CB usage rate of the MAP
Server. When CB occupation exceeds a threshold value, timeout time is the
corresponding timeout duration in the status of this threshold value, the Map
Server has different processing mechanism for Normal Status, Threshold 1
status and Threshold 2 status, improving the capability of processing SMs.
Through this task you can set the time-out duration of each status in the case of
each CB occupation threshold.
Through this task you can monitor CB resources usage of the MAP Server, you also
can know the system load.
In the message interaction process between the MAP Server and other modules,
short messages are saved in the system memory. One short message occupies one
CB. You can look on a CB as a session which indicates the process of submitting or
delivering an SM. Therefore, you can know the current load of the MAP Server by
monitoring the CB usage.
MT Server can maintain MTI Server, MAP Server, FCC and SMCAPP.
MTI Server and MAP Server can monitor CB resource.
The full name of CB is control block.
In interface information of MTI Server can trace the message between signaling
gateway and MTI Server.
WaitRspFromHLRForSRI is the Timeout threshold of the MAP Server waiting for an
acknowledgement message from the HLR.
Two kinds of Flow Distribution Statistics Flow Distribution Statistics and Flow
Distribution Statistics of Destination Address.
