Explain basic SOA concepts and how they map to implementations
Oracle SOA Suite is a comprehensive, standards-based software suite to build, deploy and manage
integration following the concepts of service-oriented architecture (SOA). The components of the suite
benefit from consistent tooling, a single deployment and management model, end-to-end security and
unified metadata management.
SOA enables: reusability + interoperability + scalability & flexibility + cost efficiency
Integration methodologies are: point-to-point (APIs, proprietary messages,) vS. Enterprise Application
Integration, EAI (message bus or middleware)
SOA can be thought of as
an enterprise-level design approach
a collection of services on a network that communicate with one another
services loosely coupled, with well-defined, reusable, platform-independent interfaces
a higher level of application development
Connectivity Service layer: provides the functionality to connect to various systems/assets.
Business Service layer: includes different business functions such as Checking Credit Card,
Verifying Customer Address, and Conducting Fraud Check.
Business Process layer: includes the nuances related to business workflow.
Presentation Service layer: provides the user interface-related services.
