“REPENTANCE: A CONDITION NECESSARY TO SALVATION FROM

SIN”

1. What is the meaning of repentance?

Repentance is commonly associated with regret. Being sorry or

regretful for the acts wrongfully committed that might have
contributed to one’s sorrow or injury. For me, there is no definite
definition for the word repentance.

2. How important is it in our salvation from sin?

It doesn’t matter how many times we have committed mistakes,

as long as in the end of the day, we recognize having committed them
and become sorry for doing the same. Thus, it is very important for
one’s salvation from sin.

3. Is it the same with Godly sorrow?

Repentance and Godly sorrow are synonymous. Both terms are

commonly associated with regret. Regardless of each definition and
application and how to apply it with our lives, it is important that we
are aware of our sins and those we have injured. The time we
recognize the damage we have done, it is easy for us to accept our
sins and to repent for it.

4. Must we admit or acknowledge our sins to be forgiven?

Admission or acknowledgment of sins is important for

forgiveness. Until we admit that the damage or injury is due to our
actions and actuations done to others, forgiveness is not possible.
Acceptance is very important. Without the acknowledgment and
acceptance, there is nothing to forgive and it is as if we don’t regret
and repent for said actions.

5. What other conditions must we meet to be saved?

Admission or acknowledgment of sins is one of the conditions for
repentance. The other and the most important condition is the act of
asking forgiveness. Admission or acknowledgment of sins without
reconciliation is a mere admission of damage done. There is no
forgiveness until forgiveness is given and such must be given without
any hesitation or reservation.

6. Have you repented of your sins?

YES. Every day, I ask for guidance and forgiveness for all the
sins that I had committed to God, family, to other people and myself.
Injury or damage is done not only to others but as well to our selves.
It is important that we forgive our own self for all the things that we
have done that should not have been done. Without one’s forgiveness,
it is impossible to ask for forgiveness because it must start with our
self.
