7. Sinopsis

This book basically is about speech pathology or commonly known as speech therapy. Parents
with special kids who have disability in the area of language and communication. Experts believe
that environment plays a dominant role in a child’s communicative development, such as
immitations, practise and response. Children need skils like intelligence, knowledge, attention,
self-esteem and motivation in order to learn and these skills are obtained upon experience and
built slowly. Scenario in Malaysia- most children acquire one or two languages at home, and a
second, third fourth or even more in school. Here, there’s a need for source language (usually
mother-tongue), and target language (a language you learn in school). Language impairment
must be addressed and it is the foremost concern of any parent, teachers and also health
providers. This is done so that the child has very minimal effects to the difficulty and to help with
long-term impairment. So to overcome this problem, there are a few methods that can be used
like routines, following a child’s lead, providing correct models, avoiding baby talks, using
appropriate signals, creating communication opportunites, using labels and also accepting the
attempts made by kids followed by claps, praises and smile. One may not know how lomng it
really takes to solve this problem as it depends on time and other variables. The amount of time
put and invested makes a big difference and parents play a vital role in this matter.

8. Nilai Pengetahuan / Pengajaran

Every child is different and unique in their won ways. Hence, the one’s with speech delay should
be identified and given extra care not only by parents, but also teachers and the community we
live in. Malaysia is multi-racial country with billingualism being it’s unique counterparts. We have
vibrant fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian. In order to help children with language
impairment, starting them with their mother-tongue is very important.
9. Aplikasi Ilmu Dalam Organisasi / P&P

Teachers often deal with ‘colourful’ bunch of students everyday and it is vital that we identify and
respond quickly upon seeing a child with speech-delay. We teachers should offer multiple
methods for this children’s future development.
