ECO will reduce domestic energy bills now, this will come at the cost
of a significant number of energy efficiency projects that could reduce
bills themselves, while also providing thousands of jobs.
One area that escaped mention entirely was the uncertainty that
remains over plans for green levies and energy efficiency. With recent
shifts in policy, firms have been left confused and with a lack of
confidence, stifling investment and progress in this vital field.
Thankfully, Osborne’s statement was not all bad news. One certainly
positive outcome was the increased commitment to infrastructure,

regulations that effectively demanded the replacement of the entire hot water system. In addition,
the boiler room had to be split in half to create two interview rooms for Sky and the BBC, presenting an
even greater challenge in terms of boiler location and space constraints. After conducting a thorough
boiler room assessment, Keston worked quickly to supply technical specification drawings, ensuring
the boiler rig could be delivered and installed as soon as possible.

apartments and some interior cupboard doors.
Architectural Ironmonger Interior Hardware comments”These are extremely high specification
apartments and the designers were very clear that the fittings and finishes should be of the highest
order. The large American Walnut doors required a heavy duty concealed hinge so TECTUS was the
obvious choice. They liked the product and the technical back-up provided by SIMONSWERK and
expanded the specification to include the majority of the en-suite bathrooms and dressing room doors.”
The doors were supplied pre-mortised and the hinges fitted on site by joinery contractor Houston

internal doors have TECTUS 540-A8 units in bronze metallic antique finish and stainless steel effect.

Lime Technology Group Howe Green
Hemclad prefabricated wall panel cassettes
developed by the Lime Technology Group have
played a significant part in helping Marks &
Spencer’s flagship Cheshire Oaks store smash its
first year sustainability targets. Central to the key
performance indicators monitored were the main
areas of sustainability, such as energy use, carbon emissions and building insulation,
all of which have outperformed targets by an unprecedented margin. Indeed with
Hemclad designed as a fast track, offsite construction method that uses renewable
materials to create high levels of insulation, thermal inertia and negative embodied
carbon, the independent Building Performance Evaluation (BPE) helps reaffirm its
suitability as a commercially viable and mainstream building system.
