ENSEMBLES
COMPANY B. VALIENTE
Norway

curator- GUNHILD BJØRNSGAARD

The company has been founded in Oslo in 1997 by Marcelino Martin

Valiente and Gunhild Bjørnsgaard. The company has from the
beginning made a crossover between different contemporary art
disciplines. If the dance has always been the centre of re-search, it has
always been thought in a transversal way with other forms of
expression: video/visual arts, theatre, music and architecture.
The company has been transporting the stage to many places, carrying
the choreographic proposition into locations such as avant garde stages
to national stages, but also to jails, military bases, art galleries, churches;
places which are not always easily accessible, and demands an effort
from the artists, but at least to the audience to access spaces far away
from their own socio-cultural origin. Strongly influenced by these
environments, both choreographers have developed an extremely
physical dance based on resistance, release, contractions and ruptures.
• A dance that seeks between the disability to communicate and the
utopia in which the body finds, despite the limitations and constraints,
an issue:
a way out

PROGRESSIVE ART AGENCY
Progressive Art Agency is an international artistic collective, working together to produce art that crosses all
borders and disciplines. Working with artists, composers, musicians, directors and cinematographers, we aim to
create an artistic experience like no other. We promote the work of musicians, composers and artists from
across the globe. The organisation aims to cross borders both artistically and politically by striving to create
unity across the world’s divides and by promoting upcoming talent and celebrating some of the world’s
unknown gems. It is a group that goes beyond promotion by producing projects, masterclasses and
contemporary art and music events.

The ProArt main team members are: Van Sarkissian, Ben Lunn and Assel Abilseitova. Being classical musicians
and composers ourselves, we understand the demands and necessities of today's art scene. We give impetus
into combining all aspects of art, showing the diversity and width of its nature, bringing more interest into it via
our unique events. We aim to be a point of progression in art, to be the producers of the next daring cultural
and artistic events. We aim to push the creative forces in all, and challenge the current creative outlets to meet
our levels of progression and desire.

Progressive Art Agency will use the Hearing Art Seeing Sound Festival as a springboard for many future projects,
including a continuation of the festival within Yerevan and other post Soviet Union countries, as well as a
broadening of our endeavours across Eurasia and Europe. The success of this collaboration will help to foster
similar philosophies in art events. The next steps will be the presentation of the Hearing Art Seeing Sound
project in Kazakhstan, Russia, the USA, and Switzerland.
This is a non-profit organisation, so the financial success of this project will go towards the funding of future
projects and allow us to grow as an organization for our artists and for our audience. 15
