Ms Ash paired the students into teams for the lesson. Each team was comprised of a higher functioning student with a lower functioning student. She had created a math lesson utilizing stations. Each
team had to rotate to each station and had one minute to complete the problem at that station.
She gave very clear and concise directions before the students began to move. She gave positive encouragement to the students throughout the lesson. Ms Johnson said that she praises students in a
positive way. She provides support for her students to do what is expected of them.

She maintains confidentiality. She has attended several parent conferences. In their school, kids get a second chance if they score 59 or lower. She is always looking for ways to re-teach skills that they
miss. She has reviewed student files at Ms. Johnson's direction. She has also participated in grade level planning meetings.

Ms Johnson describes Ms Ash as "great". According to her, Ms Ash has lots of initiative. Volunteers to help out within the school community. She is always willing to assist within the school community
wherever she is needed.

Ms Ash is willing to try new methodologies. Upon completion of lessons, she reflects on the successes of the lesson and on what she could have done differently. She asks for suggestions from Ms
Johnson.

Ms Ash tries new lessons. She develops lessons that allow the students to create and explore learning. Ms Johnson said that currently Ms Ash is working with the students on a Black History project that
they will have to do research and then create a biography on their Black History figure.

According to Ms Johnson, she keeps her word. She is on time and punctual. If she says she will do something, she follows through with it.

According to Ms Johnson, Ms Ash interacts well with school staff, students and parents. She and the teacher next door, who is a first year teacher, collaborate on lesson planning and sharing of ideas
and materials.

According to Ms Johnson, Ms Ash is eager to be a great teacher. She tries to develop and create an environment where children can learn. She affirms them and encourages them to do their best. She
uses positive affirmation with her students encouraging them to try new things.

Ms Ash values education. She is committed to being a great teacher. She is constantly working to improve herself and improve her lessons for the students to meet their individual needs. Ms. Johnson
said that she has lots of initiative. The lesson that was observed was one that Ms Ash created using am instructional method that Ms Johnson has used with literature. Ms Ash asked if she could try it
with her math lesson and it was very successful. According to Ms Johnson, Ms Ash is always willing to take a risk if she thinks that it will benefit her students.
