You have got some friends coming over to visit you in Rotterdam, and they are very interested in
cultural activities, but they don’t speak any Dutch. Translate the text of the brochure for their benefit.

Culture is Rotterdam:

Museums: There are many museums in Rotterdam. Most of them are found in and around the
Museumpark. Here you find, for example, the museum Boymans-Van Beuningen for art and the Kunsthal
for the big expositions. Another important museum is the Maritiem Museum Prins Hendrik at the
Leevehaven. Here you find everything about the shipping industry, a very important industrial sector for
Rotterdam. The historical museum Schielandshuis in the Korte Hoogstraat is the only building out of the
17th century in Rotterdam. It shows the hirtory of Rotterdam and its inhabitants. Also nice is the
Nederlands Architectuur Insitute with expositions, a library and a café.

Cinemas: The most cinemas are found around the Kruiskade. Here also takes place the Rotterdams
Filmfestival. Pathe Schouwburgplein has the biggest screen in Holland. For the more critical films and
smaller theater productions you can go to the Theater Lantaren-Venster in the Gouvernestraat.

Music:In AHOY and in Feienoord stadium big concerts take place. Less well-known bands play, for
example, in Nighttown or Rotown. You can also listen to the music in cafes and pubs, like Plan C (at the
Oude Haven) or Exit in the Mauritsstraat. A real jazz-café is Dizzy, on Tuesday evening always live.

Taak 1

Alan managed to lose his way, despite Elke's directions. How could he have prevented this from
happening? Write a short piece (ca. 50 words) in which you give some tips on how not to get lost. Feel
free to use a dictionary to look up unknown vocabulary. Use the imperative as much as possible.
Example: Neem een plattegrond mee.

Schrijf de instructies op een papier. Gebruik de GPS van de auto of gebruik Google maps op de mobiele
telefoon. Kijk naar aan de verkeersborden. Bel iemand voor instructies. Vraag een voorbijganger voor de

In Luisteren 3, Karin is more or less forced to go to the sports centre on her free day, whereas she'd
probably rather spend it reading or cooking. What do you do on your day(s) off (if you have such a
thing)? Do you spend it lazing about at home or are you very active? Write a short piece (ca. 50 words) in
which you describe your activities on your day(s) off.

Als ik heb vrije tijd heb, doe ik verschillende dingen. Soms blijf ik thuis. Daar lees ik een boek of kijk een
film op Netflix. Een andere keer ga ik met mijn vrienden uit naar een cafe om te kletsen. Soms ga ik naar
pilates lessen. In de zomer ga ik vaak naar het strand om te zwemmen.

Taak 3 Formatted: English (United States)

Your friend Lucy, who has never been to your place before, is coming to visit you. She will arrive by train.
Unfortunately, you can't go and pick her up from the station, so you e-mail her with directions to your
home. You also propose a number of things you could do together while she’s at yours. Use ca. 50 - 100
words. Note : If you suggest she takes the bus (tram, metro) from the station, describe the route it will
take, and tell her where she has to get off.

Hoi Lucy!
Leuk dat je op Zaterdag kunt komen. Helaas kan ik niet komen naar aan het station, maar ik schrijf je
instructies voor mijn huis. Het is niet ver, dus je kunt lopen. Als je het station uitgaat, ga linksaf en rijd de
Aioloustraat uit. Dan zie je een postkantoor, daar ga je langs aan de rechterkant,en mijn huis is het
derde huis aan je rechterhand.

Wat vind je leuk te doen? We kunnen naar het strand gaan of naar een café. We kunnen ook naar het
archeologisch museum of het oude Olympische stadion gaan in Oude Olympia.
