General Game Terms

Adena / Ancient Adena (AA): Two of the main currencies used in Lineage 2.

BSPS / BSS: Blessed Spirit Shot, an item used to increase the magical attacking power of a
char.

Buff(s): Any form of continuous Magic that improves some characteristic or stats of one or
more playable characters for a given amount of time.

Cast / Casting: The process of a char or NPC activating a physical or magical skill.

Caster: Usually meant as a magic type of char class, specializing in casting magic.

CH: Clan Hall.

Char, PC: Comes from “Playable Character”, it‟s the in-game character that you or other
players have created.

CL: Clan Leader.

Critical Hit / Crit: A special physical hit during combat, the damage of which is at least
double than normal.

CWH: Clan Warehouse.

DD: Damage Dealer, these are all the characters designed to deliver a high damage output in a
short amount of time via physical attack skills, either ranged or melee.

Drop: Items left by mobs when they die.

Gatekeeper, GK1: An NPC that provides chars the option to teleport to other zones.

GM Shop: A custom NPC available on some servers where you can buy all type of items that
can otherwise be acquired only through regular gameplay means (RBs and mobs drop,
crafting).

GM: Game Master, a char with special privileges controlled by a person over-viewing the
state of affairs on the server, providing support and preventing foul play according to the rules
of the server.

Healer: A char of a class that possesses healing skills (i.e. Bishop, Elven Elder, Shilen Elder).

Magic Critical Hit: A special magical hit which has 2.5 to 4 times (depending on the version
of Lineage 2) the amount of power of a normal magical hit (either attack or heal).

Melee: attack done body to body, in close range.

Mob(s): Monster(s), NPCs you can hunt

NPC Buffer: Either a regular (i.e. the Newbie Guide) or a custom NPC (on some servers)
which provides chars with various buffs.

NPC: "Non Playable Character", these are all the characters (including monsters) that you
will meet in towns or other zones and are controlled by the server, not a player.

Nuker: These are all wizard-type classes who deal high damage through the use of attacking
magic spells.

PK: Player Killer, a character that has killed other playable characters before the latter had or
were given a chance to defend themselves.

Private Message (PM): communication between chars via the private chat channel (accessed
by the “<name> command). Sometimes referred to as whispering/whisper/whisp.

PvE / PvM: Player versus Environment / Player versus Monsters, any combat between
players and mobs.

PvP: Player versus Player, any form of combat between playable characters.

RaidBoss / RB: A special type of mob stronger than regular mobs, it‟s meant to be fought by
a party/group of chars within a certain level range of the RB‟s own level. RBs usually possess
more skills than regular mobs and can also have minions to aid it during the combat. The
benefits of killing a RB are also usually greater than those of mobs, in terms of items drop,
XP and SP.

SS1: Soul Shot, an item used to significantly increase the physical attacking power of a char.

SS2: Screenshot, a snapshot taken in-game by pressing the Print-Screen button or via the use
of an external software (i.e. Fraps).

Summoner: A set of wizard-type classes who combat enemies and assist allies through the
use of specific summoned creatures.

Tank: A char whose role is to protect other chars by taking as much of the damage as
possible onto itself. Also a synonym of one of the 4 knight classes in the game who specialize
in tanking by using a shield and skills that redirect enemy attacks.

Tanker: a char that acts like a tank, receiving the damage from mobs or other chars.

Character Condition and Stats Specific Terms

Accuracy: Affects the chance of hitting or missing the target during normal physical attacks.

Atk. Attribute: The type of attribute during attacks, either the char‟s weapon attribute and/or
from a buff which increases an attribute. E.g. Fire, Water.

Atk. Spd.: The rate at which normal physical attacks are delivered. 500 equals exactly 1 hit
per second (e.g. 1000 is 2 hits per second). Also affects the speed at which physical skills are
cast.

Attribute Value: The amount of Atk. Attribute increase. E.g. 150.

Casting Spd.: The rate at which magic skills are cast.

CON: Constitution, affects maximum CP and HP, HP regeneration rate, Inventory weight
limit, the underwater breath gauge, as well as (much less as of recent versions of Lineage 2)
resistances to Shock/Stun and Bleed attacks.

CP: Combat Points, a sort of a buffer in case of PvP combat. These have to be brought down
to 0 (in most cases) before the attacker can deal any damage to a char‟s HP.

Crit. Rate: A char‟s chance of delivering a critical hit during a normal physical attack. Has a
maximum of 500 which equals 50% chance for a crit. per hit.

DEX: Dexterity, affects Accuracy, Evasion, Crit. Rate, Speed and Atk. Spd. Also affects
shield defense rate.

Evasion: Affects the chance of avoiding a normal physical attack.

Exp, XP: Experience points, the means through which the level of a char is determined.

HP: Health Points, a char‟s life. Reaching zero means the death of the char.

INT: Intelligence, affects M. Atk and the land rate of magic debuffs cast by the character.

M. Atk.: Mental/magical attack power, used to calculate damage output from magical attacks
(aka nukes) as well as the land rate of debuffs.

M. Def.: Magic/Mental Defense, used in calculations of the overall amount of damage a char
receives during a magical attack.

MEN: Mentality, affects M. Def, maximum MP, MP regeneration rate, resistance to Poison
attacks, as well as the chance to get interrupted during magic skill cast.

MP: Mental/Mana Points, the spiritual reserve of both chars and NPCs which is needed for
casting physical and magical skills.

P. Atk.: Physical attack power, used to calculate damage output from ranged and close-
distance physical attacks (normal or through the use of skills).

P. Def.: Physical Defense, used in calculations of the overall amount of damage a char
receives during a physical attack.

SP: Skill points, used for learning new skills, enchanting skills and leveling up a clan.

Speed: The running speed of a character.

STR: Strength, affects P. Atk. and Critical rate of physical skills, as well as the “Skill
Mastery” skill of fighter classes.

Vitality Level & Points: A modifier affecting the amount of XP and SP a character receives
during PvE. Each Vitality Level consists of certain amount of Vitality Points which, when
deplated, move the Vitality one level down. Vitality level modifiers are as follows: Level 0 –
100%, Level 1 – 150%, Level 2 – 200%, Level 3 – 250%, Level 4 – 300%.

WIT: Wisdom, affects Casting Spd., rate of Magical Crit. Hits, resistances to Hold (root) and
Sleep attacks, as well as resistances to most other debuff attacks not affected by all other stats.

thousand). E.g. “I have 2k HP left” means “I have 2000 Health Points left”.

kk: The double „k‟ with a number in front stands for that number multiplied by
1 000 000 (one million). E.g. “I spent about 13kk AA for unsealing” means “I spent 13
million Ancient Adena for unsealing”.

kkk: The triple „k‟ with a number in front stands for that number multiplied by
1 000 000 000 (one billion). E.g. “They have over 1.5kkk adena in their Castle Vault” means
“They have over 1 500 000 000 adena in their Castle Vault”.

AFK: Away From Keyboard.

AKA: Also Know As.

Alt: A player's alternative character as opposed to his main character which he/she is known
by.

ASAP: As Soon As Posible.

BB: Bye Bye.

BBL: Be Back Later.

BRB: Be Right Back.

BTW: By The Way.
