I. Learning Activity
a. Introduction (5 minutes)
 Motivation
1. Teacher guides student to pray before begin the lesson.
2. Explores students' prior knowledge about the material related to the
understanding of temperature, based on their opinion.
3. Teacher gives motivation to students, ask student to do the following at the same
time.
 A student placed ice cube on top of each of his hands. One hand with the large
size of ice cube and the other with a smaller size. How that felt by your hand?
(cold). Allow it to a while (until most of the ice melts).
62
 Then students are asked to observe what happens to the ice cube (the process of
melt) as well as comparing the melting of ice cube (ice cubes that are smaller
more quickly into the liquid completely).
 Teacher guides students to formulate the problem from the phenomenon.
 Teacher asks students make the hypotheses and express it. (assess the students
according to academic skills instrument)
4. Teacher extends the learning objectives such describe concept of heat, apply
formulation of heat, determine heat using a graphical phase changes, analyze the
influence mass of substance to the change of temperature, and conduct
experiment to analyze the influence mass of substance to the change of
temperature.
b. Main Activity (60 minutes)
 Data Collecting
1. Teacher makes groups of 5 students (Select problem: how the relationship
between temperature and mass)
2. Teacher delivers hand out, worksheet, and experimental materials for each group.
3. Teacher guides students to identify variables. (assess the students according to
academic skills instrument)
4. The students perform experiment to collecting data. (assess the students
according to academic skills instrument)
5. Teacher guides all group based on their difficulties.
6. Teacher observes the activity of each student and gives assessment for them
based on rubric.

 Data Processing
7. teacher asks students to answer the question in work sheet. (assess the students
according to academic skills instrument)

63
8. Teacher guides students to analyze the data from their experiment.
9. Teacher asks students to present the result and discuss it.
10. Teacher asks other groups to give the question or opinion.
c. Closure/Appraisal (15 minutes)
11. Teacher guides students to answer beginning problem.
12. Teacher guides students to conclude the learning activities.
