B. TECHNICAL INFORMATION

1. RATIONALE:

Estefania is located in the Eastern Side of Amulung, Cagayan in which majority of

the populace source of income come from the agriculture sector. Despite the adaptation of
technologies, farmers cannot attain increase in their production because of factors that affect it
like weather condition, etc. That’s why we need to conduct this learning site with the
implementation of the different activities of the members of the AMULUNG FARMERS
ASSOCIATION to come up with alternative intervention to increase income and alternative
source of income that uplift their living standard.

Integrated farming is one of the most complex to follow at the farmers’ level. Its
complexity lies mainly on assessment, monitoring and system of application to attain optimum
production.

Now a day, one factor that affect production is “CLIMATE CHANGE” globally serious
problem in which weather conditions continuously worsen overtime bringing devastating
impact to the people, economy and even our environment, that’s why we should be responsible
in the REDUCTION of gas emission and other contributory factors to CLIMATE CHANGE.

Republic act 7900 or the HIGH VALUE COMMERCIAL CROPS DEVELOPMENT

ACT promote the development of high value crops and provide market orientation for
developing the industry. Vegetables are one of high value crops which offer alternative
opportunities to small farmers and have high economic value that can increase farmer’s income
and uplift their living standard. Likewise, RA 10068 known as ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
imposed the use of natural and indigenous materials in making fertilizers to reduce the cost of
production.
The integration of climate smart agriculture practices in corn, rice, vegetables,
livestock, fishery, vermi-composting and other corn based commodities in the area aims to
increase productivity and income, hence the approval.

2. OBJECTIVES:
Generally, the integrated farming system adopting climate change resilient technology
aimed to accelerate the promotion of production technologies by showcasing feasible and
viable farming enterprise in order to increase productivity and income of farmers.

The general objective of this project is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proper is
to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proper application of individual technology approach
of different management strategies as a vital technology component of an integrated farming
system by lowering the production cost and increasing the productivity and income of corn
farmers.

Specifically, the project aims to:

1. Establish an integrated Farming system adopting climate resilient technology.

2. Initiate adaptation mechanism of farmers under adverse climate environment for
possible replication to nearby barangay.
3. Create awareness among farmers on the importance of Integrated management and
Enhance productivity and profitability of the farmer.
4. Promote integrated farming management technologies to farmers and encourage them
to adopt the technologies in their respective farms.
5. Set up model in adaption of strategies and practices in coping up climate change.

3.ACTIVITIES

A. Vegetable Production

Integrated farming system will be established in the area wherein assorted vegetable
seeds will be planted. Vegetable seeds will be sown in plastic trays and transplanted in
the designated area for vegetable production. Different kinds of natural farming inputs
will be used under vegetable nursery.

B. Vermi –Compost

Establishment of vermi composting in the area will help utilize the farm waste in order
to produce its own organic fertilizers.

C. Installation of alternative source of potable water supply.

The construction of artesian well combined with motor pump is very necessity in the
area since deep well is the only available source of water that serve the require volume
of water for personal as well as farm use.

D. Swine /Hog Raising

Pig pen will be established following the “NO PIG WASHING TECHNOLOGY” with
the use of rice hull, sawdust, etc. that will be served as bedding for the animals.
Effective Micro-organism Active solution is sprayed to the beddings to enhance the
number of beneficial micro-organism that would fight against odor causing micro-
organism thereby ammonia produced by the excreta is minimized.

E. Calamansi Production and Mango Production

Calamansi and Mango is planted along the boundaries side of the area in order to
maximize the utilization and this will be additional income of the farmer.

F. Watermelon production
G. Corn production

 Security Fences
Installation of perimeter fences that surround the area of the proposed integrated Farm
is deem necessary to protect the area from stray animals and other illegal intruders.

4.EXPECTED OUTPUT

At the end of program implementation, the following outputs will be expected;

1. Different climate resilient technology will be adapted.

2. To produce vermi-compost to lessen the use of synthetic fertilizers.
3. Encourage more farmers to use cost efficient, competitive environmentally sound and
sustainable agricultural production.
4. Adapt different practices on the impacts and effect of climate change to every component
of farm integration.
5. Showed and explained to Corn farmers the benefits derived from using proper
management of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
6. That the area will be used for practical Agricultural Learning Site.
7. That the area will be expected to level up to Eco-tourism destination in the future.
4. PROPOSED BUDGET
