Gender Issues In Modern Society

Gavin Grimm is a
teenage student who
was the victim of a
major scandal that
elicited national interest
concerning the lives of
L.G.B.T. people (Grimm,
1). His case was
decided by the supreme
court where he was
given a chance to plead
for his rights.

This image touches on the
issues surrounding same
sex marriages in the U.S
(CNN Library, 1). The
proclamation of former
President Barrack Obama
came after the Supreme
Court officiated same-sex
marriages allowing couples
everywhere to enjoy the
provisions of marital laws.
 Larry and Daniel

 The couple in this picture was

attacked by a New York City
man who was arrested and
charged for the same (Haeyoun
and Iaryna, 1).
 The two were the first
couple to be married at
West Point Military Academy.
Mark Carson

 Mark Carson was killed

by Elliot Morales who
was convicted for the
murder in March 2016
(Haeyoun and Iaryna,
1). Morales was said to
have shouted insults at
Carson before shooting
him. The murder was
filed as a hate crime.
Transgender Community The images below portray
the strikingly different
views concerning the
rights and recognition of
members of the L.G.B.T
community(CNN Library,
1). On the right are
protestors supporting the
recognition of rights of
transgender people. On
the left is a different
group of protestors
opposing same-sex
marriages.
 Trump’s Memo

 Protestors took to the

streets after Donald Trump
issued a memo reversing the
admission of transgender
individuals into the army
(Levian, 1). Many of the
L.G.B.T advocates and
human rights lobby groups
challenged the policy in
court to despite the
stringent resolve of the
military officials.

Maggie and Tracy

Cooper-Harris whose
marriage was previously
unrecognized by the
Federal laws (Cooper-
Harris, 1). However, their
marriage was recognized
2 years later which goes
to show how the
authorities are reluctant
to address issues
affecting the L.G.B.T
community
Christians Against L.G.B.T
 More radical protests concerning
the concept of L.G.B.T. This image
depicts
the more conventional Christians who
are
against gender fluidity because it goes
against the teachings of the Bible.
Most churches forbid the participation
of
L.G.B.T Christians in any church
activities

 India Clarke

 A memorial held for India

Clarke who was a black
transgender woman, she
was shot and beaten to
death in the state of
Florida(Haeyoun and Iaryna,
1).
 Her murderer Keith Gaillard,
was accused of killing another
gay man on the previous week.
Kawesi’s Demise
This is a picture of
Joseph Kawesi, a
transgender man, with
her mother Mai, in
Uganda (CNN Library,
1). Kawesi recalls one
night in 2012 when
police officers beat
and raped her with a
club on account of her
sexual orientation.
 Caitlyn Jenner
Caitlyn Jenner, formerly
Bruce Jenner. Her story
raised public awareness
concerning the L.G.B.T
community (CNN
Library, 1). It helped
people understand the
challenges faced by
members of this
community in response
to the neglect and
stigma imposed by the
general society
regardless of wealth
and status.
