Please note
Adjectives sometimes appear after a verb.
They can also appear before a noun.

Example This place is full of people.

The place is crowded.

This is a crowded place.

Please note
Before adjectives + noun you will often find a
determiner: -a, an, the, this, that, my, your,
every, one, twenty, many, etc.
Examples
The small house we visited.
Your colorful house.
Two beautiful houses.

There are different types of adjectives: quality,
quantity, number, age, opinion, color, etc.

Opinion
• Examples: Beautiful, Ugly, Interesting, Boring.

Size
• Examples: Huge, Tiny, Little, Big.

Age
• Examples: Young, Old, Ancient, Modern.

3. Colorful A colourful house is unique.

4. Lively There is a lot going on in a lively bar.

5. Inexpensive An inexpensive restaurant does not cost very much.

6. Popular A popular museum is liked by a lot of people.

7. Boring A boring shop is not interesting.

8. Peaceful A peaceful person is very calm.

When using many different adjectives, you


should keep in mind which adjectives to use
first.

• Determiners come first


• Example: Two shops

• Quantity and Opinion come second


• Example: Two beautiful shops

• Age, Size, Color, Shape, Origin, etc come at the end


• Example: Two beautiful, modern and pink shops.

front of a noun. In this case the word and and
commas are used in between the adjectives.
