4. FDT Version
The DTMs are compatible to interface specification FDT 1.2 including addendum.

5. Frame Applications
The DTMs are released for:
 FieldCare V2.11.zz
 DeviceCare V1.02.zz
 PACTware V5.0 (1)
 Yokogawa PRM R3.30 (1)
 Honeywell FDM R450 (1)

(1) does not apply for Service libraries

If these DTMs are used in combination with a different (not listed) frame application,
then Endress+Hauser cannot guarantee for their correct function.
If the DTMs need to be integrated in third party frame applications, please contact
Endress+Hauser.

6. Operation Advice

6.1. The connected device does not match to the associated DTM
When connecting online to the device the following message occurs:

Please cross check the supported software version in the DTM catalog with the version of
the device. Without the matching DTM it is not possible to connect to the device.

6.2. Bus scan (FieldCare)

A bus scan achieves level 1 in most circumstances, which means that the device can be
exactly matched to a DTM.
Devices that run in profile mode currently only achieve a scanning level of 3.
Currently the devices are identified by the PROFIBUS IDENT number (GSD e.g. 0x15xx
hex). Verify the device’s software revision in the DTM catalog before accepting the
assignment. If the device is not identified a placeholder DTM will be assigned.
Profile 3 devices are supporting a minimum of two operating modes (e.g. Cerabar S):
0x1501hex (manufacturer specific mode) (Level 2) recognized
0x9700hex (profile mode with one AI) (Level 3) not recognized

7.2.2. Installation – issue with third party frames

Using third party Frames, it may be the case that a .net Framework Version 3.5 is not
installed. However, for the use of some DTM’s it is necessary to have the above
mentioned .net framework installed. While executing the DTM’s Modules, problems may
occur due to the missing .net Framework Version 3.5.

7.2.3. Installation – problems with the DTM library with Windows XP

By installing the DTM library setup under Windows XP an error occurs if there is not a
FOUNDATION fieldbus Communications DTM installed. In this case, the FOUNDATION
fieldbus Communications DTM has to be installed first and the DTM library Setup should
be executed again.

7.2.4. Installation – problems after uninstallation

In the case of a reinstallation after performed uninstallation ends in error, the Computer
has to be restarted before executing reinstallation.

7.2.5. Uninstallation – best practice

To uninstall the DTM library use control panel “Programs and Features”.

7.2.6. Computer lock and screen saver

To prevent FieldCare from freezing after using Computer lock or Screen Saver, switch off
the automatic activation through Windows Display Properties.

7.2.7. Communication errors during download to device

Currently it cannot be automatically checked if the device is locked or not. Check the
“Lock/Unlock” menu before downloading or accessing the device.
The locking/security code is device specific. Therefore refer to the Operating Manual of
the corresponding device.

7.2.8. Resetting a device

After reset some devices need a few seconds to re-establish communication. In this case,
the DTM window will open again automatically. If the reconnection is not established,
disconnect (menu <Device Operation><Go offline>) and re-connect (menu <Device
Operation><Go online>) the device again.

7.2.9. Usage of the help functionality

For Windows 7 it is possible that the Help Link will not show the correct target of the
Web Page (the device-viewer). The following URL should be used in these cases:
http://www.products.endress.com/eh/home.nsf/systemcontentview/index.html#products/device-viewer

7.2.10. Offline Parameterization

On changing a unit parameter it may occur that parameters (values) which do not
depend on this specific unit parameter will be recalculated.

Date 2016-07-04 Page 8 of 21

Release Notes
Single DTMlibrary V2.44.00

Document V1.00.00

After changing a unit parameter you should validate all editable parameters depending
on any unit parameter.

7.2.11. Additional Functions -> Linearization

The “distance unit” may be invalid if the Linearization is opened before switching the
DTM Online. To solve this problem, switch the DTM Online and open the Linearization.

7.2.12. Additional Functions -> HistoROM

If there are neither diagram values nor time stamp values shown on the x-axis, you can
reset the zoom range via the context menu of the diagram to enable these values again.

7.2.13. Additional Functions -> Envelope Curve

1. If the distance unit has been changed and is not set to meters, the curves are
sometimes not displayed correctly. If it happens it will be quite evident (e.g.
measured range is 7 mm). In this case, close all open modules, go offline, reopen
the envelope curve module and go online again. This procedure forces a refresh of
all parameters and the curve will be displayed correctly.
2. In context with switch Online/Offline it is possible that the “Read” button
becomes deactivated. Reopen the window Envelope Curve to reactive it.
3. When using special signs in the Device DTM tag (e.g. “-,+“), it may appear that
the tag is not shown correctly in module envelope curve.
4. If 'Hardware Lock' is active on the device (dip switch) it is still possible to read
envelope curves but there is no way to zoom or to save this curve because almost
every user control is locked. Deactivate the 'Hardware Lock' on the device to be
able to use the envelope curve editor in a suitable way.

7.2.14. Additional Functions -> Create Documentation

In case that there are several opened Envelope Curves, the current curve will be printed
out.
The tank geometry of the linearization is not part of the printout.
The device state could be wrong in the diagnosis overview page. The state shown in the
corresponding device menus is always correct.

7.2.15. Additional Functions -> Concentration

The temperature must be in column 1 for calculations based on fluid properties with
negative temperatures and the input format set to matrix.

7.2.16. FDT-Print & FDT-Up/Download

Opening another window (function e.g Extended HistoROM) while a FDT-Print or a FDT-
Up/Download is running might freeze the frame application.
This UseCase is not possible in FieldCare (by design).

7.2.17. Upload functionality for FOUNDATION fieldbus

The “Upload” function may take up to 20 minutes depending on the complexity of the
device. To reduce the upload time it is necessary to close the view of the online
parameterization.

8. Device Configuration
For the following devices there are special remarks for their configuration.

8.1. HART
Cerabar/Deltabar For the Devices version 7.x the device version is to be set Offline
with the parameter “INSTR.&SOFTW.NO” (menu “Service”).
The following hints apply for the DTMs version V01.00 and
V02.00:
By switching the Operating Mode or the Unit, the operator has to
ensure that the dataset is still consistent. Advice: by changing
these parameters exclusively Online and performing an Upload to
DTM, the parameter set is automatically adjusted by the device
according to the specific sensor type.
Version 2.00.xx/2.10.xx: you can switch between complete and
reduced parameter set using the menu “Mode Selection”.
Following hint applies to the Deltabar M PMD55: After a reset
please use the refresh button to get all the default values.
Liquisys / Smartec If a device of either of these families hasn’t been operated for 15
minutes or a reset has been performed, the device is automatically
locked. To be able to operate these devices, first enter the unlock
code within the start page. Locked parameters are marked with a
red symbol when an edit is attempted.
The Chemoclean functionality is only operable by the local display.
Liquisys M PH If the operating mode is changed to offline and the offline view is
locked, the new operating mode is transmitted still to the device.
Liquiline M CM42 When using the simulation in the DTM, the device correctly
recognizes this and indicates “SIMU” in the display. The status
signal in the DTM header indicates “OK”, this is wrong. It should
state “Function Check”. This scenario only occurs in the Honeywell
Experion frame using devices with the firmware V20.05.00,
V10.07.00 and below. Actual firmware versions work as intended.
Promag / Promass Writing of lower case letters or special characters for the variable
„TAG“is allowed in principle while operating the device locally.
However, this is not a recommended practice.

Lower case letters and special characters are not supported by

remote operation via Frame application.
If a “timeout” occurs during Up/Download, repeat the procedure.
Promag 23 The private Code is editable when the device is locked.
Levelflex M Int FMP4x
If FieldCare Language is not German or English the unit US/Gal
might not work properly.
With Asian languages, missing translations are displayed as “???”
in Module Envelope Curve. In this case, switch FieldCare language
to English.
Levelflex FMP5x Red exclamation marks can occur while configuring the offline
parameterization after adding the DTM to the project tree. To
prevent this perform an initial upload. After that, the problem will
not occur anymore even after reopening the frame application
(e.g. FieldCare).
Under rare circumstances it is possible that a OneClickPrint job
never ends on its own. In this case press the Cancel button and
restart the print job.
In 'Save/Restore' Module, An upload must be performed before
completely writing back with an upload file (*.deh) in. This is due
to the fact that in the initial state of the DTM - after scanning or
manually added - only a certain part will be written to the device.
Levelflex FMP5x Dev.Rev.3
It is not possible to activate SIL-locking via the DTM as the SIL-
sequence of the DTM does not work properly.
Activate the SIL-locking through the device display.

Micropilot M FMR2xx
Above Firmware version 5.00 both devices FMR2xx and FMR25x
are operable through following device type: “Micropilot M /
FMR25x / V5.xx”.
Tank Gauging Radar NMR8x Dev.Rev.2
After reading the histoROM data, the values will not be shown
correctly if the PC clock is not synchronous with the Device clock.
