PART 1: INTRODUCTORY/WARM-UP ACTIVITY (2-5 mins):
Activity Teaching Hints
We are going to do a body part dance. I will say a
body part every time I start drumming. Try to dance
with just that part, keeping the other parts still. How
many ways can you move that part? We will be
dancing in personal space.”

PART 3: LESSON FOCUS (15-20 mins):
Activity Teaching Hints
Glue: Pretend that your hands and feet are glued to
the floor. What other parts can you move?
Now, glue your back to the floor. What body parts
can be used to dance? Glue your elbows
and knees to the floor. What can you move? Glue
your bottom to the floor, what can you
move? Glue one foot and one hand to the floor,
what can you move?
Add-a-Part: Put your arm somewhere, add your leg
in a shape, put your head somewhere, put
your other hand somewhere, put your knees
somewhere and freeze in that shape. Shake out
the shape. Let’s do a few more shapes like that.
Separate Parts: Turn different body parts
separately. Let’s start with the head turning, now
the arms circling, now one leg, now the other. Now
let’s turn while circling one or more body
parts.
Special part: We are now going to leap across the
floor. Kick up one leg after the other to fly
into the air. As you leap, do a movement with a
selected body part. I will call out the body
part.
Part and Whole Free Dancing: Dancers you will
now make up your own dance using the
movement you have worked with today. Start the
dance with one body part, like your hand or
foot and then dance using your full body, and then
use a different part and the change back to
full bodied dancing. Switch between the two. We
are here to help.

PART 4: CLOSING/COOL DOWN ACTIVITY (2-5 mins):

Activity Teaching Hints
Goodbye Dance: to cool our bodies down each of
you will walk across the floor slowly
dancing a body part that we will call out.
