Abstract

This study was undertaken to determine the level of knowledge and attitude

of Bachelor of Arts in music students in University of Baguio. This was a

quantitative research design, specifically a descriptive correlation research. The

respondents for this research were Bachelor of Arts of Music students, with

complete disregard to year level, age and gender. It was hypothesized that there

is no relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of attitude of BA

Music students toward classical music. A validated multiple-choice questionnaire

and a Likert scale, containing open-ended and close-ended questions. Data were

analyzed using statistics specifically, frequency distribution table for the level of

knowledge of students and mean for the level of attitude towards classical music.

For the relationship of the level of knowledge and attitude, the researchers used

Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The overall result of music students’ level of

knowledge in classical music falls in good equivalent descriptive interpretation. The

researchers’ findings on the overall result of the level of attitude of the students

falls in positive attitude equivalent descriptive interpretation. The researchers

learned that the level of knowledge doesn’t affect the level of attitude of music

students towards classical music.
