Murder mystery 1:
A millionaire was found dead by his desk. He might have drunk a glass of poisonous wine. There
was a letter by his side and his right hand was still holding the pen, which was believed to be the
one he used to write the letter. After investigations, the police said that the millionaire had not
killed himself. He was murdered. Why was the police so sure about that?

Murder mystery 2:
The police found a dead body of a woman in a house. There was a letter next to the dead body.
The letter was written with water-proof (oil-soluble) ink. The police believed that it was written by
the woman, who said, in the letter, that she shot herself with a gun because she owed people a lot
of money. The letter was dated 3 days ago.
The police searched the house carefully and they found a water-proof pen near the body. The pen
had no cover. The policemen tried to use the pen to write something and they soon concluded that
the woman was murdered. Someone had moved her body to the house after killing her. How did
the police find out the truth?

On a chilly winter night, a public bathroom was about to close when a young woman came in and
said she would like to take a bath. The owner of the public bathroom said she could take a bath
but she had to be fast. The woman thanked the owner and went into the bathroom and shut the
door. After an hour, the woman still didn’t come out. The owner saw some blood coming out of the
bathroom door so he called the police.
When the police arrived, they opened the door and found the dead body of the woman on the
floor. She was stabbed on the chest by something sharp before she could take a bath. The owner
said that no one had walked near to the bathroom. There was no sign of attackers coming in
through the windows. The whole bathroom was dry and clean but there was some cold water on
the woman’s right palm. The police inspector said that the woman killed herself. Do you know how
she did it?

freezing outside, it was very warm inside the restaurant. Inspector Jordan found a dead body
sitting by a table. The dead man was shot by a gun on the forehead. Inspector Jordan asked the
restaurant owner about the case. The owner said he saw a strange man wearing glasses running
into the restaurant and he shot the man with a gun. The strange man left immediately after killing
the person. Everything happened so fast so the owner could hardly remember exactly how the
strange man looked like.
Inspector Jordan knew straight away that the restaurant owner was lying. Why?
