FIGURE 1
(a) Identify an organism that contains all the organelles in FIGURE 1. [1 mark]
____________________________________________________________________________________
(e) Organelle X and Z have their own DNA and ribosome. State the significance of DNA and ribosome to
these organelles. [1 mark]
____________________________________________________________________________________
2
TRIAL PSPSM 1 SB016 2015/2016
(f) Suggest a reason why human sperm contain lot of organelle Z. [1 mark]

2. In the garden pea, yellow seeds (T) are dominant to green seeds (t) and round seeds (B) are dominant to
wrinkled (b) seeds. A cross was made between pure breeding pea plants with yellow and round seeds
with green and wrinkled seeds. The F1 offspring produced was shown in the FIGURE 2.
FIGURE 2
(a) By using the symbols given, draw a genetic diagram to show the production of F1 offspring in
FIGURE 2. [3 marks]
(b) If the F1 offspring in FIGURE 2 undergo testcross, show the genotypes and the phenotypes
ratio of the F2 generations by using genetic diagram. [4 marks]
3
TRIAL PSPSM 1 SB016 2015/2016
(c) The gametes produced by the F1 offspring in FIGURE 2 will show genetic variation. Give TWO
factors on how genetic variation occurs in the gametes. [2 marks]

(d) State ONE different between dihybrid cross and linked gene based on location of genes on the
chromosome. [1 mark]

4. FIGURE 4 shows a few types of the chromosomal mutation originates from the normal chromosome.
Mutant A
Normal chromosome
Mutant B
Mutant C

TRIAL PSPSM 1 SB016 2015/2016
d) FIGURE 5 show two non-homologous chromosomes that undergo chromosomal abberation called
reciprocal translocation between the shaded areas. Draw the result below. [1 mark]
