Turbine EH Regulation Oil System

1.0 Scope of Applicability

Initial conditions, precautions and operation steps of system put into service and out
of service are listed by this procedure.

2.0 Basis of Compilation

2.1 EH oil system flow diagram, 1-37J51-002-CNPP-45-JD, Rev. 2

2.2 Control and safety oil system, 1-37J52-002-45-JD, Rev. 3
2.3 325 MW Nuclear Power Station Condensing Steam Turbine Instruction book,
HN325-5.34

3.0 Initial Conditions

3.1 The power of instrumentation and equipment has been supplied.

3.2 The closed cycle cooling water system is operating.

4.0 Precautions

4.1 If the EH oil temperature is less than 10oC, start-up of oil pump is prohibited.
4.2 If the EH oil temperature is less than 21oC, the turbine rolling is prohibited.
4.3 While one EH oil pump is operating, second pump should be at auto standby
conditions.
4.4 In case of high differential pressure alarm across filter, the maintenance
personnel should be called to replace the filter.
4.5 Avoid direct skin touching with EH oil.
4.6 Before the start of turbine unit, the increase in EH oil temperature should be
monitored.
4.7 EH oil system should be put into service for 30 minutes before the turbine is
restarted.

4.8 The high pressure accumulator nitrogen gas normal operating pressure is 89
bar(g), with zero hydraulic fluid pressure. The accumulator should be checked
weekly and recharged if the gas pressure decreases to 79 bar(g) level.
4.9 The low pressure accumulator nitrogen gas normal operating pressure is 2.1
bar(g). Theses accumulator should be recharged if the gas pressure decreases
to 1.65 bar(g) level.

5.0 Operation Steps

5.1 Putting System into service:

5.1.1 Preparation of system status
a. Confirm that all instrumentation has been put into service
according to Appendix 1, “EH Oil system Instrumentation List”
and operating normally.
b. Ask local operator to check status of equipment according to
“EH Oil system Equipment Check List”.
c. Two EH oil pumps have been energized.
d. Confirm that EH oil tank temperature is more than 21oC,
otherwise, perform the following operation until the oil
temperature is normal.
i. If oil temperature is below 10oC, oil tank electrical
heater should be put into service until oil temperature
reaches > 10oC.
ii. If oil temperature is between 10~20oC, adjust the set-
point of oil flooding valve to the minimum value
(35kg/cm2)
iii. Start up one of corresponding EH oil pump to warm up
oil circulation. Adjust the set point of oil flooding valve
to 70kg/m2, when oil temperature reaches 16 C. (The
other one may be started up to increase the heating
rate).

iv. When oil temperature reaches 21oC, restore the set-

point of oil flooding valve, cut off oil tank heater and
maintain one EH oil pump operation.

5.1.2 Start one EH oil pump (if it has not been start up), confirm that the
current is normal and EH oil pressure is between 12.4~14.8 MPa.
5.1.3 Inform local operator to check system operation condition.
5.1.4 Perform EH oil pump interlock test.
a. Turn on the interlock switch of standby EH oil pump “to stand-
by position” (i.e. INLK A / INLK B).
b. Open test solenoid valve J051-V627, confirm that when oil
pressure decreases to 11.3 MPa, stand by pump will be start
automatically. Verify its current and pressure are normal.
c. Repeat steps a & b for other EH oil pump. After it is normal,
maintain one in operation and the other to serve as interlocked
stand-by.

5.1.4 Take notice of that EH oil temperature is controlled between the

normal range of (44~54oC).

5.2 Taking system out of service:

5.2.1 Confirm that turbine has been tripped.
5.2.2 Put the interlock switch of EH oil pump at “interlock off” position.
5.2.3 Stop the operating EH oil pump.
5.2.4 Inform the local shift person to close cooling water inlet/outlet valve of
EH oil cooler.
5.2.5 Put the interlock switch of EH oil tank electrical heater at “interlock
off” position.
