This report aims to present the process as well as results from my internship

real working environment. This report contains overall 19 pages which are logically

Supervisor’s comment

Glossary
o AutoCAD is a CAD (Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Drafting)
software application for 2D and 3D design and drafting. It was developed and
sold by Autodesk, Inc. First released in December 1982, AutoCAD was one of
the first CAD programs to run on personal computers. AutoCAD 2009 boosts
efficiency with customizable and extensible user interface enhancements that
increase overall drafting productivity by decreasing the number of steps
needed to reach a command. Newly design, innovative features simplify
working with layers and help make new users productive as quickly as
possible. Easy-to-use navigation tools make finding your way around 3D
models a snap.
o Perspective is an approximate representation on a flat surface of an image.
In this case, it’s a picture of the house when completed.

- Welcome visitors: Receptionist is often the first person a visitor sees
when entering the company’s door and the last face they see as they exit.
First impression is very important so I have to be calm and polite all the
time. My duties are greeting people as they walk into the office, direct
visitors to a specific office or let the visitor know that the employee is
absent.
- Collect customer’s information: To facilitate subsequent contact, we
collect information from customer at the first time they visit. Information
includes name, address and phone number.

2. Driver
Before each trip, I have to prepare luggage, wash the car, fill it up with
gas also check the windscreen washer and the tension of wheels. We usually
start in early morning or late at night to save time as well as easier to drive.
We have two basic rules, always start the engine 5 minutes before Mr.
Director get in the car and make sure doors are locked before go somewhere.
Remark: I realize that driving is one of the most boring jobs in the
world. After you drive to the location you will have nothing to do except wait
to go to the next point not to mention that you will lose your sleep because
you always have to open your eyes to drive. On the other hand, driving has
taught me many things, such as patience and consideration before making a
decision.
3. Draft contract
4. Field work
- Take overall pictures: For appropriate design ideas, architect need to
have an overall view on the current state of building plot. I use a normal
digital camera to take overall pictures.
- Measure building plot: Besides overall view, architect need to know the
actual building area. We use a tape measure to measure building plot.
- Draw a sketch: Rely on Land Use Rights Certificate I draw a graphical
location of building plot by AutoCAD 2009 software.

6. Other tasks
Email sketch to architect.
Receive the drawing and the perspective as attachments from architect.
Transfer documents.
Take company’s car to garage for maintenance.
Prepare facilities for business trip (printer, paper, camera, compass,
survey ruler, laptop, contract, etc.).
Set-up printer.
III. Evaluation
With each task I have assigned, I tried to complete in the best way, but
sometimes there are unforeseen difficulties. After each case, I find my shortcomings
and draw experience for next time.
I realize that there is always a gap between learning environment and real
working environment. That gap is filled only when we apply knowledge to practical
work in a flexible way.
Architecture is not really my favorite things, if I want to pursue this job I will
have to learn and change pretty much things. So I am sure that is what I don’t want
to do.
