National
Hydration Day
National Hydration Day - June 23
Summer can get hot, especially in Texas, and each
June 23, the U.S. celebrates National Hydration Day.
Proper hydration is vital to living a healthy life, but it’s
often overlooked. It’s easy to forget to carry a water
bottle on a hot day outside, but skipping out on H2O
can lead to major health risks.

National Hydration Day was created in honor of

late football coach Victor Hawkins, who invented a spe-
cial hydrating mouthguard to keep his players healthy
on the field. SafeTGard, the company that now sells his
invention, launched the holiday after Hawkins’ passing
to honor his legacy and to encourage others to stay hy-
drated. Whether you’re a professional athlete, a casual
exerciser, or someone who simply loves to spend time
outside in the sun, drinking water is key to avoiding
heat stroke, dehydration, and other dangerous issues.
Celebrating National Hydration Day is a great way to
raise awareness!

How to celebrate National Hydration Day

1. Set reminders to regularly hydrate during the day

Write out reminders on post-it notes or type them into your phone.
You can even download apps that remind you to drink a set amount
of water each day. After following these reminders for a while, they’ll
likely become a habit that you’ll practice without even thinking about
it.

2. Tell everyone you know to stay hydrated

Remind your loved ones that it’s important to drink lots of water each
day, especially when they’re outdoors in the summer or are
exercising. People often forget to prioritize hydration, but being
prompted by a friend or family member who cares can stand as a
great reminder.

3. Make some tasty infused water

If you avoid drinking water because you find the taste a little bland,
infuse a pitcher of water with mix-ins like lemon wedges, cucumber
slices, strawberries, cantaloupe, mint, or other refreshing produce.
Sometimes, simply having a tasty beverage on hand can make all the
difference. You can even take things a step further by filling up
grab-and-go bottles of infused water at the beginning of each week,
or filling up a special pitcher for your desk at work.

KidsCare Home Health provides a
Professional Development Funds (PD
Funds) program for all full-time and
part-time therapists. These funds are
accrued each payroll and receipts can be
submitted to be reimbursed from your PD Funds
Thomas Barton account. The basics of this program are as
follows:
Human Resources Director
All full-time and part-time therapists will receive $0.30 per paid visit
towards their PD Funds. PRN therapists are not eligible for this
program.

These funds will be deposited into each eligible therapists’ PD Fund

account each payroll.

A cap of $500 will be placed on all PD Fund balances. This means

that once a therapist’s PD Funds account reaches $500, they will not
accrue any additional funds until they submit a reimbursement
request that reduces their balance below $500.

All PD Funds balances can be viewed in Asure.

Requesting Reimbursement

1.
Here are the steps to follow to be reimbursed from your PD Funds account:

2.
Submit the receipt for all eligible expenses to your Clinical Manager.

The purchase date must be visible on all receipts that are submitted
for reimbursement. All expense submissions to the Clinical Manager
for PD Funds reimbursement must occur within 30 days of when the
expense occurred.

3. Clinical Manager approves the expense. If the Clinical Manager

denies the expense reimbursement, they will return it to you with an

4.
explanation of the denial.

The Clinical Manager will forward that expense to Payroll for

5.
reimbursement through Bill.com.

The therapist’s PD Funds balance will be reduced accordingly in

Asure.

What is Eligible for Reimbursement under the PD Fund Program?

This fund is designed to assist therapists in their continued

professional growth and education. As a result, this is intended to be
used for items such as CEUs, professional licensure costs, CPR, etc.
When seeking reimbursement for CEUs, the completion date of the
CEU must also be provided. A certificate of completion of the CEU
that was reimbursed must be provided to HR within 30 days of the
completed CEU. If this certification of completion is not provided to
HR within 30 days of the completion of the CEU, that reimbursement
amount must be repaid to KidsCare in the form of a payroll
deduction.

This fund cannot be used to purchase items or materials that are

already provided by KidsCare.

Consult the Employee Handbook for a more detailed description of

the program. You may also contact Human Resources with any
questions you might have regarding this program.
