AERODYNAMIC FLYER BOW
RELATED APPLICATIONS
This application claims the benefit of priority under 35
USC. §119(¢)t0 US. Provisional Application No, 62027,
190, filed om Jul 21, 2014, the disclosure of which is
incorporated herein by reference in its ere
TECHNICAL FIELD
“The present disclosure relates flyer bows for use in wire
bunching/twisting processes. Moe particularly, the diselo-
sue relates to aerodynamically shaped fiver bows fr rede
ing power dr and increasing processing spouts,
BACKGROUND,
‘Twisted cables may be manufactured through the use of
wire processing machines employing Ayer bows. Wire pr
cessing machines with flyer bows may be used to make
twisted cables fora wide variety of uses, Fiver boss may be
teed with pairing, tripling, quadding, bunching. stranding.
‘wring, a twisting machines for wires. An exemplary
‘embodiment of ewising machine employing a fier bow is
Aiselosed and described in US. Pat) No. 3943182, the
contents of whieh are hereby incorporated by reference
Flyer bows are frequently arcuate along their length and
are frequently elongated along thir ross section. Flyer
bows may include wire guides configured w guide the wire
to he twisted In use, ager Bow is rusted about an axis of
rotation, carrying the guided wire with it in rotation. This
rotation permis the wrapping. traning. or twisting ofthe
vided reas twisted cable i proce
Higher prodhetivity from bunching isting machines

SUMMARY
Aspects of the present disclosure provide a Ayer bow
having an arom shape, which may reduce deg onthe
flyer bow. Reduced ding may reslt in lower power con-
stmption during & bunching/wisting process andor higher
chievable wrapping spoods, which may result in greater
‘manufacturing toughput
‘Some embodiments include Myer bow for processing
wires. The Myer bow may include an elongate arcuate body
having a middle orton, ad stand second eral portions
at opposite ends ofthe middle portion The elongate acute
body may be configured to be rotated about an axis of
rotation, the middle portion may include an inner suiee, an
tute surtace, 2 leading edge, snl ateiling eg, the innce
surce and the outer surfage may cooperate to form a est
‘ection, anda Teast one centerline of the oss section may
fnclide rains of curvature substntaly ual toa distance
hetween the elongate arevte body atthe Iocation of the st
east one centerline and the axe of rotation,
‘Some embodiments include a Myer bow for processing
wires. The flyer bow may include an elongate arcuate body
Configured to be rotted shout an axis of rotation, the
ongate arcuate boy having a idle portion, and fs and
2
second end portions at opposite ends ofthe middle peton.
‘The middle portion may have an inner surfee, an outer
surface, a leading edge, ailing edge, at leastone ees far
receiving wires to be twisted located between the inner
surface and the outer surfove, and at least one loin at lest
fone ofthe inne andthe outer surface The lot aay aia
the roves, std the inner surface and the outer surface may
scopeate to fon a cross section.
