REWABE believes that citizens are duty bound to vote,
thereafter we citizens must continue to engage and
participate with our elected representatives. Towards this
end, as well as to build a strong community, REWABE, on
behalf of Cooke Town, lists out the following Charter of
Demands, and requests your commitment to work with us
towards its fulfillment
1. A Connect with our MLA - REWABE would like to meet
the MLA periodically, perhaps every 6 months, to keep him
in the loop of developments and needs of our Ward. We
request for a commitment towards a periodical meeting
2. To ensure Ward 59 is Law Compliant - REWABE is
keen that our Ward is law compliant in all respects and
‘wants to work with all Urban Local Bodies such as the
BBMP, BWSSB, BESCOM etc. We ask for implementation
and enforcement, without exception, of all Laws.
Currently we face the following :
~ Lack of transparency in the operations of the BBMP,
BWSSB and BESCOM
~ Residents have no access to information regarding
developmental works in Ward 9. Information
regarding the timeline, budget, contractors details ete.
are not available to residents. This situation is often
exploited by the contractors and relatives of elected
representatives,
- While we have robust laws we do not have a robust
supporting system backing the laws, this is reflected
in the brazen and blatant building violations in Ward
59. REWABE wants to ensure that builders conform
to BBMP building by laws.
3,.Working of Ward Committee - mandatory under the
74th Amendment Act, 1992 ( Part IXA of our Constitution)
this Act enables governance at a local level. The Ward
Committee must meet every month, publicly announce the
date of the meeting, and be empowered to control all such
issues that can be handled at the ward level such as
garbage, street lighting, sanitation, water supply, drainage,
\ road maintenance, etc.
