TABLE USE INSTRUCTIONS

The guardrail type (light, semi-heavy, heavy, very heavy) to be used on the respective
road section shall be established as per Schedules 2 and 3, depending on the technical
class of the road, the particulars of the road section and the volume of heavy traffic.
The protection level shall be established as per SR EN 1317/1,2, from Schedule 1 -Table
with proposals to classify the guardrail types adopted.

guardrails. They could also be loaded for higher protection levels.

Note 2: A device accepted for a certain protection shall comply with the lower level
testing requirements, excepting N1 and N2, which incorporate T3.

Note 3: Since high performance guardrails have been manufactured and tested in
different countries, by very different heavy vehicles, the two tests TB 71 and TB 81 are
now considered for this standard. The two protection levels H4a and H4b shall not be
considered as being equivalent and there is no hierarchy between them.
