When A Adsorption & C Regeneration is selected

The plant has three molecule sieve dryers working simultaneously and self-regulating based on the
process conditions.

The operation sequence is given below.

Initial status of valves is as follows:

Step – 1 :- Vessel A Adsorption/ Vessel C Regeneration (Heating)

Open KCV-1A and KCV-2A putting Vessel A on Adsorption Mode and Open KCV-3C and KCV-4C for
putting Vessel – C on Regeneration Mode. Open KCV-6 so that the temperature of Regeneration gas can
be increased by Heat Exchanger E-001.

Note-1: The operation of TCV-3 is controlled by a PID controller having set point of 550 ⁰F interlocked
with KCV-6. If KCV-6 is closed then TCV-3 will be automatically closed in 30 seconds. However, if KCV-6 is
opened then TCV-3 follow its PID controller set point.

Note-2: After TCV-3 is fully closed, KCV-9 must also be closed. When KCV-6 is opened, KCV-9 must also
be opened.
Step – 2 :- Vessel A Adsorption/ Vessel C Regeneration (Cooling)

Vessel A will remain on adsorption. As the temperature of regeneration gas at inlet and outlet of Vessel
C is ideally equal (practically TT1C – TT2C = 30 ⁰F). Open KCV-7 for 10 minutes then close KCV-7 (to avoid
thermal shock). Open KCV-8 and then close KCV-6.

The status of the valves will be as under:

When the moisture analyzer installed at Vessel A reach following conditions:

i. AT-2A installed at 70% of the bed length is at 0.15ppm AND AT-3A installed at 90% of the
bed length is 0.1ppm.

Then, the Adsorption cycle will be switched to that Vessel whose regeneration gas inlet KCVs is closed
AND which achieved standby mode earlier.

Open KCV-1B and KCV-2B and then close KCV-1A and KCV-2A. Open KCV-3A, KCV-4A and close KCV-5
