PROJECT

The organization’s annual dance concert, entitled “Sayaw Manila”, now on it’s 7th
year

PROBLEM

Shortage of funds for projected keep of the organization and for giving out to the
organization’s chosen charity (the Buhay Makulay Children’s Project).

Need of a way to present what the organization has been doing for the past year

INPUT

1. How much money does the organization need to make in order to sustain itself
for the next year (or more) and to donate to the Buhay Makulay Children’s
Project?

The organization needs to acquire an amount that will be able to cover the
expenses made for the production of the current project as well as the amount
that is to be donated to the chosen charity, and for the expenses needed to start
the coming year (around Php150,000).

2. How many performances does the organization need to present in order to

fully showcase its progress through the year?

The number of performances will depend on the number that the

organization will be able to produce and the number of people that will be
able to make them happen. Currently, the organization is keen on showing
performances that have won inside and outside the university, and of course,
performances based on this year’s theme. The organization also regulates the
number of guest performers to not let these performances overpower the
theme or even the host organization itself. About 10 performances from the
 organization, and 5 or so from guest performers.

MATERIALS

Presentation – stage design, costumes, AVP materials, lights and sounds system

Documentation – videotaping the event

Venue – the PhilAm Life Auditorium on UN Ave., Manila

Souvenirs – programs featuring the organization, the guest performers and the
sponsors

ACTIVITIES

Development and Marketing

Producing a theme that will muster an audience sufficient to finance

monetary needs, gathering sponsors that will be able to provide for
organization’s needs, in kind or in cash

Designating tasks for people, planning performances that follow the

theme, production of teasers, audio-visual presentations vital to the
concert, as well as tickets, and ticket selling, following on sponsors,
inviting guest performers who can, preferably, provide pieces that will be
able to follow the theme, prepare souvenir programs

Choreographing performances in accordance with theme, confirm guest

performers, rehearsals, arranging costumes, props

Stage design, blockings on stage before concert proper

Evaluation

Comparison of current year’s ticket sales with previous years’ ticket sales

Obtaining opinions by subtle interviews, asking for comments or

 suggestions from audience, guests, guest performers

OBJECTIVES

To obtain Php 150,000 from ticket sales for the expenses of the organization
for the coming year, and allocate at least Php 10,000 for the organization’s chosen
charity, the Buhay Makulay Children’s Project.

To gather by word-of-mouth the opinion of the audience regarding the

organization’s current dance concert, thereby determining their fulfillment and the
concert’s flaws and strengths

To promote the art of dance as a multi-faceted mode of expression with its

different genres and styles, with the use of student-dancers, showing that this art
isn’t nearly as hard as it looks
