The LCD monitor is pre-mounted on the main console at factory, and the main
console with monitor is packed in one export case, the total packing size can
become smaller and the freight cost will also be reduced. The monitor arm is well
designed so that it can also simplify the installation work at site as per the
instructions attached herewith for your reference.

Please be kindly advised that the factory default settings of SSD-3500SX are not
finely tuned for its LCD monitor yet, and it is highly recommended to re-adjust the
monitor settings and the presets, at the installation, as indicated below. The
factory defaults will be reviewed in very near future. Also, please be aware of the

difference of imaging characteristics of LCD monitor from that of CRT monitor, as

explained subsequently, which may persist after the adjustment of LCD monitor and
the preset. We don’t provide upgrade service to mount the LCD monitor on
SSD-3500SV and the former versions.

1. Recommended Settings of LCD monitor;

(1) Backlight : 10 to 12 ( default setting is “10”, which is for use at a dark place)
(2) Bright : 1
(3) Contrast : 3

2. Recommended Settings of Preset; (Values in parenthetic are factory defaults)

(1) For B-mode
Items Abdomen Carotid Cardiac
Contrast in IP Select (B) 7 to 8 (6) 9 (8) 12 (10)
AGC in IP Select (B) - - 2 (4)
Smoothing (B) - 7 (4) -
View Gamma - - B (C)
Frame CORRE in IP Select (B) - - 5 (6)
Relief in IP Select (B) - OFF (Low) -
Focus(B) 2P (Manual 1, 4) - -
Frame Smoothing ON (Off) - ON (Off)

(2) For Flow

Smoothing in IP Select (Flow) 4 to 6 (3) 6 (3) -
Line Density (F), Color - Low (Medium) -

3. Notes on imaging characteristics of LCD monitor, different from conventional CRT

monitor:
(1) When the Backlight setting is low, the contrast of B-mode image becomes
weak and the gradation sequence of color may go dark.
(2) A gap between line to line on the B-mode image may become apparent,
especially when a setting of “Beam Process” is “Multi” and “THE” is “On”.
(3) When a linear transducer is used, vertical lines may become visible at the very
shallow part of image just under the transducer.
(4) The display of color information may be blocky.
(5) The US image size on the LCD monitor screen and that on the printed paper
are largely different.
(6) The brightness of pulse wave Doppler may be saturated some time.
(7) When the “Backlight” is set to lower, the contrast of the LCD monitor becomes
much weaker, then the B-mode contrast should be increased one or two steps.

(8) The image persistence of LCD monitor may be improved by setting the “Frame
CORRE” to “Low”.
(9) The gap between US lines may become less apparent by setting the “Frame
Smoothing” to “ON”.
① This works only when “Beam Process” is set to “Multi”.
② The initial echo of the image may look flickering when the “Frame
Smoothing” and T.H.E are “ON”.
(10) When the intensity of Doppler spectrum looks saturated, set the IP Select (D)
below:
① COMP Curve (D); 1 or 2
② Contrast (D); 8 or 9
③ This works to reduce a saturated condition.
