also planning to set up a display at
our downtown public library for 7

Surrey, British the public. There will be branch
Columbia displays for membership, branch
V3S1G8 Canada publicity, LA and the Legion
Foundation. LA will put on a free
BBQ. Also events, face painting and
games for children. Static military
vehicle displays. Cadets will have
their booth and displays set up.
There will be a MC and DJ for the
whole day. Tentatively (upon
approval) we have asked for the
RCMP Demonstration Dog Team.
throughout the day we will have
mobile military vehicle rides. The
biggest attraction will be a T-55
Soviet Main Battle Tank crushing 3
cars throughout the day.

community to our Legion Week
event. We will also specifically invite
our local Fire Fighters, First
Responders and RCMP to our event.
We will be stressing one does not
have to be a recently retired veteran
to join the Royal Canadian Legion.
We will also have a "meet & greet"
group from our membership
committee to welcome our guests,
showcase our community charitable
and volunteer work. We will ensure
we will have lots of membership
application forms to hand out. We
will be advertising our Legion Week
event via Social Media, Community
newspapers and other FREE
advertising outlets. We will be
soliciting donations for Toonies for
Troops and we have found this to be
very successful in raising awareness
and funds for Toonies for Troops!

Armstrong, British events put on by the City of
Columbia Armstrong Chamber of Commerce in

July 1st. The day will begin with a
Legion Colour Party and speeches by
both Mayors, First Nations Rep and
by the Citizen of the Year. This will
be followed a day of fun and
activities such as , arts and crafts,
face painting, bounce stations,
petting zoo, races, music, free
swimming, bingo tent, jousting, food
, to name a few. We also have a Vimy
Oak tree to Plant. Many organization
,including the legion will have
information booths available. The
Legion will be out in force recruiting
members, promoting Toonies for
Troops and giving out Red Maple
Leaf lapel pins and Canadian Flags. A
Birthday Cake will also be provided
for all to enjoy

43 Prince George 101-1116 6th 24-Jun-18 Family Fun Day hosting a barbeque

Prince George, picnic area and invite the
British Columbia community. Legionnaires will

with a float and the Legion Color
Party participating. Following the
parade we will again be inviting the
public (with emphasis on the
children) to the Legion for a Bbq,
Canada's Birthday Cake with the
RCMP participating in the cake
cutting, games and face painting.
Our expenses will include the bbq
itself, purchase of the cake, the face
painting and local paid advertising
to help invite the people to the
Legion for the Canada Day
Celebration.

people know what the Legion has to

broadcast the the day of the event.

Gibsons, British Coast Show and Shine and Poker
Columbia Run for Motorcycles which will

Coast, Sechelt, Roberts Creek,
Madeira Park and back to Gibsons
for the Show and Shine and food,
music, trophies and fun. We will also
be extending invitations to other off-
Coast Legionnaires and groups. This
is a first for the Sunshine Coast so
will be an interesting endeavour
which will involve a large group of
Volunteers, some of the younger
members have already stepped up.
June 28 Annual Strawberry Tea. Last
year just over 70 attended, mostly
our senior members and ladies from
the community. June 29 Veterans
Dinner. We will invited about 40
veterans to this dinner along with
spouses or guests. It is anticipated
around 60 will be present. We will
hold a Candlelight Tribute following
the dinner.

by the Can Can dancers, Monday

will be having Meat Draw, Super
Meat Draw, 50/50 draw and Food
and Refreshments During the week
evening activities will include nightly
games of darts, euchre, poker, crib

Branch 53 to our luncheon as well
since they do not have a Legion
building anymore. We plan to have

Membership drive on this day. 29
June - Casino night fun money and
prizes donated from the local
community. We will be charging a
small entry fee for this night and all
money raised will be donated to
Toonies for troop. We are having an
extra day for Legion week leading up
to Canada Day. No food involved for
this event. We need to raise money
for the toonies drive.

Comox, British Information Fair". We invite all the
Columbia charities that we and our LA donate

House. We set up our hall somewhat
like a trade show offering each
charity a space and table to set up to
promote their particular charity. We
than advertise the advent to the
public through the media, radio, TV
local paper and social media
Facebook, our Website etc. and to
the charities themselves as they can
forward through their social media
as well. A free light lunch is provided
to one and all. Also each charity is
offered ten minutes on our PA
system make a verbal pitch to the
attending audience of their group's
goal etc and must include of how
the Legion supports their charity.
The response from the charities has
been outstanding and we have
heard statements like "no one has
ever done anything like this for us
before"

sit and eat. There will be a band
playing in the Lounge.

included special public function at

who not able to travel to the branch

with the other veterans in the
hospital with their families and
friends. Events at one or both
locations will include Karaoke,
Bowling, Darts, cards, Shuffleboard.
And if weather permitting the food
will be served outside to welcome
more participation of the public.

firemen and first responders, stayed
and protected our community. This
will be open to the whole
community. This would help us
promote legion week showing that
we care.

Pemberton, British June 22 to 28. June 22nd we will host
Columbia a family/community barbecue. It will
V0N-2L0 Canada consist of a salmon patty on
bannock and a side of salad. We will
also provide juice, coffee and tea.
We will follow this up with Karaoke
from 7 to 10. The first hour will be a
family friendly karaoke and then an
adult only karaoke. June 23rd to 28th
we will have light appetizers
available from 4 to 6.

Hwy Sunday June 24th from 11:00am till
Bowser, British 3:00pm. This will coincide with the
Columbia Veterans Motorcycle Poker run.

Lemonade. The Arrowsmith Pipe
Band will entertain us.

house. This is an event which focuses
on what the Branch does for the
community. New this year is the
involvement all the groups the
branch donates to or supports. They
are invited to set up promotional
display booths and also show how
and to what extent they are
supported by the Branch. June 27.
Veterans Lunch. All veterans and
guests, regardless of Legion
membership are invited.

261 Forest Grove 4535 Canim Hendrix 23-Jun-18 Saturday is open house during the
Lake Road day with displays and information on
Forest Grove, British the Legion , LA will supply appy's ,
Columbia they will be attending along with
V0K-1M0 Canada members of the executive. In the
evening there will be a dance with
Mark Allen. Sunday will be a picnic
BBQ in the park behind the legion
for community members, there will
be legion info available along with
horseshoes, games, prizes for the
kids, music and just a fun day.Face
painting with our local artist.
Monday will be a veteran/ volunteer
dinner along with local provincial,
federal and local representatives.
Also invited will be the 3 area
departments Fire Chiefs and their
deputy Chiefs. ( Forest Grove,
Hawkins, Canim Lake Band) Tuesday
, First Responder Appreciation night..
appetizers will be served with buns,
meat , and cheese etc. invited are
FGVFD, HLVFD, 100MileFD, EMT,
Search and rescue, Canim Lake Band
FD, RCMP Wednesday , 50+ lunch

to the Canim Lake Elders Every event
will be to promote the legion in our
areas..

263 Coquitlam 1025 Ridgeway 28-Jul-18 We are planning to conduct a


Avenue headstone cleaning of the veteran
Coquitlam, British graves in the Coquitlam cemetery.
Columbia We use Cadet groups to clean the
V3J-1S4 Canada stones a few days before. On the
following weekend we invite the
local dignitaries to attend. We will
have the Robert Malcolm Memorial
Pipe Band leading a procession of
the Legion Colour Party, politicians,
and Cadets into the cemetery. We
will assemble at three points along
the access road and the Cadets will
escort people to the grave side and
place a lit candle on the headstone.
In the past we have had the Mayor
and council members, M.L.A.s and
M.P.s attend. We are also planning
on donating and planting of three
Oak trees in the corner of Blue
Mountain Park. This corner has a
garden planted by the City to
honour the armed forces of Canada.
The three trees would frame this
garden. The City of Coquitlam
arbourist is quite excited to be the
recipient of these trees.

266 Valemount 970 Main Street 24-Jun-18 This year for Legion Week we are
Valemount, British planning a two part celebration. On
Columbia Sunday June 24, we will have an
V0E-2Z0 Canada Open House from 1-4pm where we
will have an opportunity to showcase
what we do - and have done within
the community. In an effort to attract
younger families to our club, we are
planning an on-site scavenger hunt
for the youth - grades K-12, with the
focus on Legion members and
activities. One of the local hotels has
graciously donated a pool-party for
the winner and five friends. All
participants of the scavenger hunt
will receive a small prize. Light
refreshments will be served. To
honour our veterans we have
decided to have a more formal
gathering separate from the open
house. On Friday June 29, all
veterans and their families will be
invited to attend a full sit down

Garibaldi Highlands, youngsters that we sponsor, our
British Columbia main event will be to throw a party

drinks,face painting and any other
stuff that people think of we will try
our best to make sure the whole
family has fun outside weather
permitting inside if not.we will be
handing out flyers showcasing how
whole families can have a good time
at most of the Legion functions we
put on throughout the year, dinners
and the likes where dad can enjoy a
cold beer and mom might enjoy a
glass of wine and all can enjoy a well
cooked meal in a very friendly safe
environment and not having to pay
high restaurant prices for it.plus we
will be doing an open house and
show them what we do and
emphasize why we constantly are on
the look out for new members, we
will probably be doing a few other
things once the word gets out and
members come up with new ideas,as
always we will do the very best we
can and you can't beat that. I hope
it's SUNNY.

280 Vedder Golden 5661 Vedder Road 22-Jun-18 Initially we'll kick off Legion Week on
Chilliwack, British Friday June 22, by inviting local
Columbia community members to a Meet and
V2R-3N5 Canada Greet, with our Executive members
and our Ladies Auxiliary members
and Veterans. This will be followed a
"Veterans' And Friends" Dinner and
Dance for members and non
members. For the Saturday, we
working to partner with other
community organizations such as
Anavets #305, RCL Chilliwack Branch
4, CFB Chilliwack Historical Society,
in hopes of doing a tour of each
facility, including breakfast /brunch,
and activities at each location.
Strawberry Tea to be held on
Sunday. Open House Monday to
Thursday, from 4pm -6pm,
Information "Learn More" booths for
each of the following: Legion, Ladies
Auxiliary, Cadet Corp., Youth Services
(Bursaries), Membership drives and
other Volunteer opportunities
within.. We'll finish off the week with
a First responders BBQ and Open
House, for the community, kid
friendly. This will run up to Canada
Day, when we'll invite everyone back
to the Legion for another Open
House with food,colouring contests
and karaoke. For media coverage we
are planning to have Radio coverage
via the "Community Cruiser" attend
events,and our local Shaw Cable TV
Station, do an interview with our
Legion President and our Sgt. At
Arms, about the Legion organization
and our commitment to our
community.

Road House/Family BBQ on June 29, 2018
Westbank, British in conjunction with Westside Daze.
Columbia We invite the public with emphasis
V4T-2G1 Canada on Emergency Services personnel.
We invite the Mayor our Band Chief
and our local MP to come and enjoy
the BBQ with us. We will have live
musicians. We also put a float in the
parade with decorations using a
Sports theme to attract new
members to come and join and play
with us. We also celebrate our
veterans by having them on the float
and having them come to the BBQ
to talk to potential new members.
