Please see my statement below:

The Lansing Housing Commission is aware of the pending vote of no confidence in the LHC Board of
Commissioners from the Lansing City Council. While we would disagree in a vote of no confidence, and
recognize that this would be a setback for our mission and the families that we serve, we remain
committed to providing affordable housing options for low income renters throughout the Lansing area.
The City of Lansing is, and always will remain, an important partner in that endeavor.

While the LHC has had challenges with funding and staffing, it is important to note that there have been
substantive improvements in our operations throughout the years. These improvements include
increased scoring in various HUD metrics that measure management operations, while de creasing the
amount of audit findings. LHC has successfully worked with the HUD Detroit Field Office to establish a
corrective action plan, address issues that had been hindrances, and build policies and practices that
will provide long term sustainability. Our net position is strong, as determined by the most recent
annual audit performed by Plante & Moran which noted that increased net position was due to
“effective management.” We look forward to an ongoing cooperative relationship with the City of
Lansing that will continue to foster an environment conducive of progress and growth.

Best Regards,

Martell Armstrong, Executive Director
