SAFETY CHECK-OUT (US Model) After correcting the original service problem, perform the following safety check before releasing the set to the customer: Check the antenna terminals, metal trim, “metallized” knobs, screws, and all other exposed metal parts for AC leakage. Check leakage as described below. LEAKAGE TEST The AC leakage from any exposed metal part 10 earth ground and from all exposed metal parts to any exposed metal part having a return to chassis, must ot exceed 0.5 mA (500 microampers). Leakage current can be measured by any one of three methods, 1, A commercial leakage tester, such as the Simpson 229 or RCA WT-S40A. Follow the ‘manufacturers’ instructions to use these instru ‘ments. AA battery-operated AC milliammeter. The Data Precision 24S digital multimeter is suitable for this job. 3. Measuring the voltage drop across a resistor by means of a VOM or battery-operated AC volt- meter. The “limit” indication is 0.75 V, so analog meters must have an accurate low- voltage scale, The Simpson 250 and Sanwa SH-63Trd are examples of a passive VOM that is suitable, Nearly all battery operated digital multimeters that have a 2 V AC range are suitable, (See Fig. A) To Exposed Metal Ports on Set [746 O15 uF 150|_Z | foiemeter }arsve = Earth Ground ._ Using an AC voltmeter to check AC leakage. Static electricity in the clothing will not be released by the ground belt, so be careful not to let KSS-151A touch clothing, L seranserp a Ueonduetive material © vround belt °@ conductive sheet or ‘copper plate NOTES ON CHECKING THE LASER DIODE AND FOCUS SEARCH OPERATION [CAUTION] ‘The laser beam on this set is converged by the objective lens in the optical block so that it focuses fon the disc reflective surface, There fore, when check- ing light emission of the laser diode, be sure to Keep the eyes more than 30 em away from the objective lens, © Rote the chucking arm. This figure shows the entire chucking im released, but checking ean be done by raleacing “A” portion only. @ After releasing the ‘chucking arm, te ‘ise table should be ‘ll she way in Coheck if the following operation is performed by looking at the objective lens after releasing the chuck- ing arm and turning the POWER switch on. However, this gain has « margine, so even if it is slightly off, there is no problem, Therefore, this ad- justment is not recomended generally to be per- formed, Focusjtracking gains determine the pick-up follow- up (vertical and horizontal) relative to mechanical noise and mechanical shock when the 2-axis device operate. However, as these reciprocate, the adjustment is at the point where both are satisfied.
