Step by Step using NMRR System

WHAT IS NMRR?

• A web based tool designed to support the implementation of


the National Institutes of Health NIH guidelines on the
conduct of research in the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH)

• NMRR enables online research registration and online


submission, review & approval of MOH research

• The registered research constitutes a database of on going and


completed medical research projects in MOH
WHY REGISTER IN NMRR?
• National Institutes of Health NIH Guidelines on the conduct
of research in the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH)
NIH GUIDELINES REQUIRES:

• Registration of all research that


• involves MOH personnel OR
• that is to be conducted in MOH facility OR
• to be funded by MOH research grant

• Review & approval of the research by a designated


entity to whom authority has been delegated for the
purpose
NIH GUIDELINES REQUIRES:

• Research involving human subjects requires prior


review and approval by the Medical Research and Ethics
Committee (MREC)
• Approval of all research publications
• whether in the form of research report, journal article or
conference proceeding, by the NIH initially and thereafter by
the Director General of MOH

REGISTRATION
SUBMITTING RESEARCH SUBMISSION

• For research registration & Ethical approval


• Only for new research - have not started data collection (time
lapse between registration and data collection date should be
atleast 2 months)
• For research registration only (no approval)
• For completed research
• For new research that does not involve MOH patients / staffs ,
therefore does not require MREC Approval
• One research one submission
• Only one person (will act as Corresponding Person CP) will
register the research

• Section 1 – 6 is mandatory.
• For Research Registration

• Section 7 is Research Submission for Approval

done in Section 1, Step 1.4
Section 2 – Research Details
• This section is about information / details of the research.

Research ID will be given in Section 2. Please


remember this number as this is the reference
number for the research registration.

• This section is about information of the funding source / sponsor
for the research.
**If no sponsor, choose as “Self-funding”

For contact person , select yourself, or anyone


in your research team will be yourself

Grant Secretariat

Application for MOH-NIH Grant is open from January till June ; with minimum grant value
requested at RM5000.00
Section 4 – Investigator(s)/Study Site(s)
• This section is to list down the investigators and study site involve
in the research

How to add investigator?

signature. Then to be uploaded back
into the submission.

Section 5 – Corresponding Person
• This section identify the Corresponding Person (CP) CP is the person that
edits the submission and the contact person for the study/research.
• CP has the full access to edit the submission.
• Backup CP can only upload AOR documents.

Click Browse button to browse the document file.
Don’t forget to:
• Enter the Version No (example: 1)
• Enter the Version Date (example: 20-06-2015)

Its always recommended to upload a PDF file. System do accept other files, but the
system will convert it to PDF upon attaching. This conversion my cause some
formatting error to the original file.
Click here to upload Investigator(s) Documents
After Research Documents & Investigator Documents uploaded,
click Finalise Submission

When Finalise submission clicked, system will combine all the uploaded documents into one
PDF file. If the PDF successfully build, you will be able to see “SUBMIT” button

Always REMEMBER to click “Finalise Submission” and the
“Submit” button at EACH section 7.
If successfully submitted, the yellow Submit button will
disappear.
If you have these notifications on your page…

Means something is still


pending at your side, and
secretariat did not receive
your submission!
STAGE 1 – Has no received NMRR
ID / in processing stage by secretariat
/ unsubmitted submissions

STAGE 2 – Received NMRR ID / in


review process / approved research

STAGE 3 – Approved research


requesting for amendments

Display all submission that has the


users’ name in it.
Always make sure that Unsubmitted
research and Incomplete submission
awaiting resubmission is always
showing (0)

Show the Public User Main Menu
To change the password if necessary

Shows details of user NMRR account.


To update user account details

Shows submission that is incomplete /


unsubmitted and pending action from user Logout from the system

Difference between
NMRR ID
RESEARCH ID - Will be issued once

Investigators have to make sure they have received the NMRR ID


within 7 working days from the date they have registered the research
