The Blast Furnaces-Agglomerating
Plant No. 2

BLAST FURNACES
- AGGLOMERATING

The required pig iron production for


steelmaking is provided by three blast
furnaces, 1,0OO cu.m. useful volume
each, equipped with blowing installa-
tion for auxiliary gaseous and liquid
fuels,
The small-sized ores are prepared as
agglomerate (which form the main
metallic charge for blast furnaces) in
an agglomerating plant with three
sintering belts, two of 13O sq,m and
one of 126 sq.m useful area. The
plant is endowed with a reception,
storage, sorting, homogenizing and
transportation complex for ores. The
homogenizing base is equipped with
stacking, homogenizing and dischar-
ging machines.
From case to case, the foundry pig
iron is delivered as chill cast ingots
obtained with a band pig castingma-
chine. The resulted blast furnace slag
is mainly processed by wet granula-
ting, serving as raw material in buil-
ding industry,

The Steel Plant No. 3

STEELWORKS
The No. 3 Plant consists of three
steelworks: the open-hearth steel plant
for plain steelmaking, equipped with 8
furnaces, 4OO to capacity each, provi-
ded with oxygen blasting and heat reco-
very installations and two electric steel-
works for alloy and high-alloy steelma-
king equipped with two electric arc fur-
naces of 20 to capacity, two furnaces of
60 to capacity (steelworks - O,E l) and
two electric arc furnaces of i00 to ca-
pacity (steelworks O.E 2). The electric
steelworks are provided with steel treat-
ment installations of VAD-VOD type. The

The Rolling Mill
Plant No. 4

ROLLING MILLS

The rolling mill plant is composed of a roughlng


section comprising a 1,OOO mm blooming and a
'|,3OO blooming, a semi-finished section with a
75O mm continuous mill, a heavy sections depart-
ment with a 650 mm reversing mill and four pro-
duction units equipped with coniinuous trains lor
medium sections, strips, light sections and wire
rod. The described complex is served by speciali-
zed units for rollers'preparing and maintenance,
The mill trains are equipped with in-flow checking
installations and products finishing installations,
and the technological process and the products,
quality are tracked by computer and by modern la-
boratory equipment.
For the alloy steel rolling there is provided a de-
partment equipped with a 8OO mm reversing mill
with complete endowment.

OUALITY - LABORATORIES DEPARTMENT

This deparment performs control activities when recep-


tioning raw materaals supplied to technological flows and in
final stage, according to provisions of the international
standards,

testing before their delivery to customers.
This department is endowed with diversified apparatus
(spectrophotometry, spectrography, automated complex
