Black Women Stand Up For What They Believe In-​ STUDENT SAMPLE A 

Do  you  feel  the  same  way  I  feel  about  women’s  rights?  Women’s  rights  is  a  social 

issue  in  America.  Women’s  right  is  how  women  fight  to  be  equal  to  men.  How  have 

individuals  or  groups  taken  a  stand  for  women’s  rights  that  shaped  American  society? 

Individuals  or  groups  have  taken  a  stand  for women’s rights that changed American society 

by standing together, standing up for their rights, and having marches for women.  

One  way  Ida  B  Wells  has  taken  a  stand  for  women’s  rights  that  changed  American 

society  is  that  she  stood  up  for  her  rights  and  beliefs  as  a  Black  woman.  Evidence  that 

explain  this  impact  is  she  stood  up  for  herself  while  everybody  just  like  her  wouldn’t  have. 

Additional  evidence  is  the  bus  driver  told  her to get up and she did and he touched her and 

she  bit  him.  Lastly,  they  put  her  off  the  bus and she went to court and she won but the next 

court  she  didn't  win.  This  evidence  helps  why  Ida  B  Wells  has  taken  a  stand  for  women’s 

rights  that  changed  American  society  because  if  she  would  have  stay  put  she  wouldn't 

make a change.  

Ida  B  Wells  has  taken  a  stand  for  her  rights  that  changed  American  society  by  the 

way  she  took  up  for  herself.  She  found  what  she  believed  was  right.  Also, she took care of 

her  brothers  and  sisters  and  a  young  age  she  finally  made  a  change.  This  evidence  help 

explain  why  Ida  B  Well  has  taken  a  stand  for  her  rise  that  changed  American  society 

because they way she fought for her rights. 

In  conclusion  Ida  B  Well  has  taken  a  stand  for  women’s  rights  that  changed 
American  society  is  she  was  a  teacher  and  taught  little  kids to keep her brothers and sister. 

Evidence  that  shows  how  Ida  B Well has made an impact is the way she took up for herself. 

Secondly,  both  of  her  parents  died  when  she  was  young.  Thirdly,  she became a teacher to 

keep her brothers and sisters and at a young age she had everything she need to know. This 

evidence  helps  explain  why  Ida  B  Well  has  taken  a  stand  for  women’s  rights  that  changed 

American society because she believed in herself and she knew her rights. 

Individuals  have  taken  a  stand  for  Women  rights  that  changed  American  society  by 

standing  together,  standing  up  for  her  rights,  and  having  marches  for  women.  Individuals 

such  as  Ida  B  Wells  and  and  groups  such  as  The  Women’s  March  have  had  an  impact  by 

standing up for themselves as women and stood up for other women when no one believed 

in  them.  One  way  the  community  can  continue  to  change  women’s  rights  is  by  having 

protests,  making  websites,  and  talking  to  people  that make the law. I want to help women’s 

rights  by  talking  to  women  who  need  help  and  see  if  I  can  help  them  find  people  to  help 

them.

What's that burning? Climate Change!!!- ​STUDENT SAMPLE B (Climate Change) 
 
  Climate  change  is  the  biggest  social  issue  facing America because it will jeopardize 

our  Earthly  planet.  Climate change is when carbon gets stuck in the atmosphere and comes 

back  down  to  melt  ice  or  other  things.  Individuals  or  groups  taking  a  stand  climate  change 

that  changed  American  society  by  reducing  their  greenhouse  gases,  raising  awareness 

about the issue, and using efficient energy sources. 

The  Under2  Coalition  is  taking  a  stand  on  climate  change  that  changed  American 

society  by  reducing  their  carbon  emissions.  The  Under2  Coalition  wants  to  decrease  their 

emissions  to  0  by  2050.  This  proves  that  they  are  really  trying  to  decrease  their  carbon 

usage. 

Leonardo  DiCaprio  has  taken  a  stand  for  climate  change  that  changed  American 

society  by  using  his  fame  to  make  awareness  about  climate  change.  One-way  Leonardo 

DiCaprio  made  awareness  for  climate  change  is  donating  20  million  dollars  to  WWF. 

Another  way  Leonardo  DiCaprio  made  awareness  for  climate  change  is  making  a  movie 

about  climate  change.  The  20 million dollars that Leonardo DiCaprio gave to WWF they can 

use the money for research of a new reliable energy source . 

Pharrell  Williams  is  trying  to  save  the  world  by  helping  children  to  get green jobs to 

stop  climate  change.  Pharrell  Williams  called  on  all  of  the  world  leaders  to  provide  green 

jobs  to  work  against  climate  change.  Pharrell  Williams  is  using  his  fame  to  have green jobs 

for children everywhere to stop climate change and carbon increases . 

  Individuals  or  groups  who  are  taking  a  stand  against  climate  change  that  changed 
American  society  are  reducing  their  greenhouse  gases,  raising  awareness  about  the  issue, 

and  using  efficient  energy  sources. Individuals such as Leonardo DiCaprio and groups such 

as WWF have an impact on climate change by using their fame and helping make a change. 

These  individuals  and  groups have made awareness of climate change and have supported 

a  lot  of  green  jobs  .Earthly  humans,  I  want  you  to  stop  burning  a  lot  of  fossil  fuels  and 

carbon  greenhouse  gases  are  very bad for our atmosphere. I wish that we could poke holes 

in  our  atmosphere  so  the  carbon  could  go  out  of  small  holes  in  the  atmosphere  and  leave

Help Homeless People Find a Home- ​STUDENT SAMPLE C (Homelessness) 

Have  you  ever  heard  of  homelessness?  Homelessness  is  a  social  issue  in  America. 

Homelessness  is  when  someone  don’t  have  no  where  else  to  live.  How  have  individuals  or 

groups taken a stand for homelessness that shaped American society? Individuals or groups 

have  taken  a  stand  for  Homelessness  that  changed  american  society by helping Homeless 

people  buy  homes,  helping  Homeless  people  in  their  hometown,  and  giving  homeless 

people support.  

One  way  The  National  Coalition  for  the  Homeless  have  has  taken  a  stand  for 

homelessness  that  changed  American  society  is  they  help  people  who  are  homelessness. 

Evidence  that  explains  this  impact  is  the  group  of  Homelessness  was  helping  homeless 

people  buy  their  homes.  This  evidence  helps  explain  the  National  Coalition  has  taken  a 

stand  for  Homelessness  that changed American society because so the kids can be healthy 

and so they can live.  

Beyonce  has  taken  a stand for homelessness that has changed the american society 

by  helping  homeless  people  in  her  hometown.  Evidence  that  shows  how  beyonce  has 

made  an  impact  is  beyonce  helped  4,600  homeless  people  in  Houston.  Also,  Beyonce 

helped  homeless  people  drop  14%  in  2014.  This  evidence  helps  explain  why  Beyonce  has 

taken  a  stand  for  homeless  because  she  is  using  her  fame  and  her  money  to  help  the 

homeless. 

In  conclusion  everyone  can  take  a  stand  for  homelessness  that  can  change 

American  society  by  helping  homeless  people  in  their  community.  Evidence  that  shows 
how  everyone  can  make  an  impact  is  by  helping  give  homeless  people  phone  calls. 

Secondly,  people  can  work  at  the  homeless  shelter. Thirdly, people can help by supporting 

homeless  people.  This  evidence  helps  explain  how  people  can  take  a  stand  for 

homelessness  to  change  American  society  is  by  helping  the  homeless  people  where  they 

live.

using  their  fame  to  help  homeless  people  and  giving  homeless  their  homes.  Individuals

had  on  homelessness  in  American  society  is  help  homeless  people  live  better  lives.  I  want 

to  help end homelessness in the future by donating money, helping people find homes, and 

volunteer  at  a  homeless  shelter.  One  way  the  community  can  work  to  end  homeless  is  by 

taking a stand and talking about how we can create places for homeless people to stay.
