1.0 SCOPE

1.1 Thermography using Flir T660 IR is used for applications requiring accurate
analysis of static or dynamic thermal patterns. This high performance system
combines superior image quality and thermal sensitivity with true temperature
measurement display.

2.0 PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS

2.1 The operator shall be trained in both the theory and the proper operation of the
equipment.

2.2 The operator shall be field experienced.

3.0 EQUIPMENT

3.1 The Flir T660 is a sell-contained thermal imaging, archival and analytical
system with an integral colour LCD, micro floppy diskette drive and integrated
cooler.

3.2 It is used together with a SONY Hi8 cam recorder for later analysis on
playback.

4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The operator's manual describes the setup, operation, and maintenance of the Model
T660 Thermal Imaging System. It includes system specifications and appendices
containing fundamental radiometric concepts to help users identify the capabilities and
limitations of the system when applied to a specific application. Maintenance is limited
to troubleshooting procedures designed to isolate and/or remedy simple operational
problems.

Because the key to the successful application of the Model T660 is the correct
interpretation of the thermal images or thermograms produced, those responsible for
operating the system should have a good working knowledge of the basic principles of
both heat transfer and radiometry.

5.0 TEST PROCEDURES

5.1 Setting up of System

Using the Operator's Manual for equipment set-up, the procedures for powering
up and setting up the system are carried out.

The LCD display is a high resolution colour monitor. To view the monitor, slide it
forward. A sun shield is used for outdoor operation.

The Image Mode is the basic operating mode and is selected by pressing hte
IMAGE key. In this mode the SOFT-SET keys adjust the Field-of-View (FOV)
parameters.

Rotating the CENTER TEMP control clockwise increases the temperature

corresponding to the mid-gray intensity level in the image. Rotating the control
counter clockwise decreases the centre displayed temperatures thereby
lightening the image. The focus keys are used to bring the displayed object of
interest into focus.

The Temperature Span keys select the full-scale sensitivity fo the image. Two
ranges are selectable: NORMAL range allows maximum sensitivity for
equivalent target temperatures to 20000C; EXTENDED range produces the
sensitivity to allow imaging of targets up to equivalent temperature of 25000C.

Colour Mode is set by pressing the IMAGE/COLOUR mode key while the
SHIFT key is depressed. Its selection sends a colour image to the LCD display.

Point Mode - in this mode vertical and horizontal cursors appear in the image.
The temperature at the intersection of the cursors is displayed.

Isotherm Mode - in this mode, an isotherm marker appears in the grey scale.

Area/Area Define Modes - in this mode, the average temperature within a

rectangular box in the image is obtained. The location of the box is controlled
with the SOFT SET keys.

5.2 Data Acquisition/Playback Analysis

The video cassette recorder (VCR), Sony Hi8 Cam Recorder, is connected to
the control unit to record colour and black and white images. This video
recording is made for image processing at a later time. The recording is done
on BLACK/WHlTE output so as to record black & white data. Colorization is
performed through ThermaGram Image Processor in the T660.

The ThermaGram Thermal Image Analysis System is a image interpreter based

on IBM compatible computer. By decoding the hidden calibration information,
the system can evaluate and display temperatures of points, line and regions
directly from video tape or from images stored on diskette by the
T660. Colourisation and read out functions are performed using colour palettes
and emittance values set at the time of playback.

The T660 includes a built-in disk drive for standard 3.5 in. high density micro
floppy diskettes. Images is stored from video memory onto diskettes to be
recalled and analysed at a later time.

6.0 EVALUATION I REPORTING

6.1 The evaluation criteria shall be established by the customer and the evaluation
is carried out accordingly.

6.2 The following records and details of thermography inspection should be

maintained as a minimum in a report form:

i. Client's name, date and time of inspection.

ii. Details of items inspected.

iii. Colour thermogram print of item inspected detailing heat leakages or

hot spots and the temperatures shall be recorded in the areas of
interest.
iv. Any thermogram print shall be accompanied by a colour photograph of
the item inspected taken at the same spot as that of the thermogram.

v. Remarks of the inspection findings.

vi. Diskettes (which contain up to 25 images in each diskettes) will be

provided together with the report, if requested.
