Industrial training (CHE 690)
• Important course in engineering
curriculum, to apply theories learnt in
core and non-core courses in real
working environment.
• Students to be trained to make job
applications
• Preparing for DP and RP

Why during semester 6 & 7?
• This is Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC)
requirement
• LI must be done before final year and after
finished taking fundamental engineering
courses
• Why 10 weeks: Because this is 5 credit hour
course

Students should be:
Practice basic engineering or research activities, including
CLO1
technical writing and project management

• project management i.e. project documentation, coordination and
planning.
• equipment design i.e. heat exchanger, separator, completion
equipment accessories and facilities design.
• production of oleo chemicals, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and
biotechnology.
• familiarization with real PID and PFD as well as other related simulation
works.
• interpretation and inspection of engineering drawings from relevant
consultant companies.
• equipment stability assessment or troubleshooting and maintenance.
• laboratory works i.e. chemical/PVT/properties analysis, design of
experiments and other relevant research and development activities.
• production and manufacturing assemblies.
• site visit for environmental or oil and gas field.

• Once all document ready in your file, you need to get
approval/inspection by programme coordinators
• Fill and sign the STUDENT’S PLEDGE (in Industrial Training
Logbook). This form should be signed after your placement is
confirmed.
• You can start the application, the ready file to be brought
together upon reporting duty at the chosen company.

• Continuous process starting from NOW until June 2018.
• Ensure all documents are ready in application package.
• Coordinators will help to provide list of companies (in FB)
• Application can be made by post/courier/email/fax/website application (job
portal (for internship), company website, etc)
• Follow up persistently after application.
• Apply as many companies out there! (MINIMUM:50)
• Think carefully to which company you wish to accept.
• Do background check/research on the company before applying and
accepting the offer. In other words, does the company suits your expectation
and importantly, faculty’s requirement?
• We DON’T ALLOW you jump from one company to another - Against the
declaration –Student’s pledge in your Industrial Training Manual (Appendix D)
