2、 Operation Manual

(1) Battery and charger information

Your device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The battery can

be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually
wear out. When the testing and printing times are noticeably shorter
than normal, replace the battery. Use only Keyun approved batteries,
and recharge your battery only with Keyun approved chargers
designated for this device. Use of an unapproved battery or charger
may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard.
Both DC Charger and AC car charger can charge the battery
depending on different occasions. Battery capacity of Panther-I is up
to 2000mA, it should be recharged when battery is low.
The green indicator under the left button will be on when
connecting power. The red indicator under the right button will stay
lit until charging is complete. Right button will turn from red to
10
Keyun Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.—[Breath Alcohol Analyzer: Panther-I]

green after 2 to 3 hours when charging is completed.

If the left side of the green indicator light does not shine in state
of charging, it probably indicates the charger has no voltage output,
please check the cigarette lighter or the availability of electricity. If
the right side of the indicator light does not shine while the left
green one is functioning well, it shows that the ambient temperature
is in excess of the scope of 0 ℃ ~ 45 ℃. The equipment protection
circuit starts to activate, the battery cannot be charged until it is back
to ambient temperature.
Always switch the device off and then connect the charger.
Unplug the charger when the device is not in use. Do not leave
a fully charged battery connected to a charger, since overcharging
may shorten its lifetime. If left unused, a fully charged battery will
lose its charger over time.
Always try to keep the battery between 15 ℃ ~ 25 ℃.(59℉ ~
77℉). Extreme temperatures reduce the capacity and lifetime of the
battery. A device with a hot or cold battery may not work
temporarily. Battery performance is particularly limited in
temperatures well below freezing.
Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuiting can
occur when a metallic object such as a coin, clip, or pen causes
direct connection of the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals of the
battery. (These look like metal strips on the battery.) This might
happen, for example, when you carry a spare battery in your pocket
or purse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or
the connecting object.
Do not dismantle, cut, open, crush, bend, deform, puncture, or
shred cells or batteries. In the event of a battery leak, do not allow
the liquid to come in contact with the skin or eyes. In the event of
such a leak, flush your skin or eyes immediately with water, or seek
medical help.
11
Keyun Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.—[Breath Alcohol Analyzer: Panther-I]

Do not modify, remanufacture, and attempt to insert foreign

objects into the battery, or immerse or expose it to water or other
liquids.
Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion, or other
hazard. If the device or battery is dropped, especially on a hard
surface, and you believe the battery has been damaged, take it to a
service centre for inspection before continuing to use it.
Use the battery only for its intended purpose. Never use any
charger or battery that is damaged. Keep your battery out of the
reach of small children.
Battery testing times are estimates only and depend on battery
age and condition, temperatures to which battery is exposed, use in
different mode and many other factors. The amount of time a device
is used for testing and printing will affect its standby time. Like
wise, the amount of time that the device is turned on and in the
home screen will affect its testing and printing time.

CAUTION!
- Please do not insert the AC Charger to the socket that does not
meet the requirement stated on the label in the aspect of input
voltage and current.
- Please do not turn on the instrument while charging.
- Pease do not charge the instrument or battery below the
temperature of 0℃(32℉)or above 45℃(113℉).
- It is recommended to remove the battery when the printer is not in
use and to let the battery fully drain before recharging. This
prolongs the battery life.

13
Keyun Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.—[Breath Alcohol Analyzer: Panther-I]

Changing the test sites after powering on, the GPS device will
automatically search for the satellite signal. When the "GPS"
symbol at the top right of the screen appears, it shows that the
equipment has successfully obtained latitude and longitude
coordinates. If it does not appear "GPS" symbol after long period of
time, try to let instrument open up towards the sky. GPS will
continue to access the latest coordinates of the location provided that
apparatus is able to receive satellite signals when changing the test
sites.
Accuracy of GPS can also be affected by poor satellite
geometry. Availability and quality of GPS signals may be affected
by your locations. The GPS receiver should only be used outdoors to
allow reception of GPS signals. Any GPS should not be used for
precise location positioning, and you should never rely solely on
location data from the GPS receiver for positioning.
With automatic shutdown features, the instrument will give out
a sound of "Beep…" then automatically shutdown in the absence of
any action up to 5 minutes.

CAUTION!
- During the touch-screen operation, do not use much effort to point

4、 Calibration

(1) Breath Alcohol Simulator (Wet Bath) Calibration

Panther-I requires calibration every half year to maintain

28
Keyun Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.—[Breath Alcohol Analyzer: Panther-I]

optimum breath analysis accuracy. Users can schedule calibration

with qualified laboratories or testing departments every 6 months.

CAUTION!
- The instrument must be calibrated periodically. Do not use any
instrument that has not been calibrated on time for law enforcement
so as to avoid unnecessary litigation.

Calibration is performed using an ethyl alcohol reference

solution, air pump and a breath alcohol simulator. This method is
also referred to as a wet bath calibration.
Calibration should only be done by trained service personnel.

(2) Equipment: Model 34C Simulator and 590-AP

Air Pump from Guth Laboratories, Inc. (DOT approved)

Model 34C Simulator is a breath alcohol simulator which

utilizes a know water alcohol solution to produce an air to alcohol
vapor which is thermostatically controlled to a temperature of 34℃
to simulate breath temperature. The result is an accurate method of
recreating a known breath alcohol concentrations.
The 590-AP is a portable pump designed for testing and
calibration purposes. When the pump module is connected to the
Model 590 it will deliver a sample of alcohol vapor at 10 LPM. The
operator controls flow time simply by using the RUN button on the
front of the pump box.
1. Visually inspect the Model 34C Simulator and verify the
solution container is clean and free of any cracks.

29
Keyun Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.—[Breath Alcohol Analyzer: Panther-I]

2. Add tubing and male connector to the simulator.

3. Remove the top housing by holding the solution
container and turning the large knob until it is released.
4. Lift up the top housing and check the mercury column on the
thermostat and thermometer for no separation.
5. Set the top housing aside upright on its feet. Pour 500ml of
certified solution into the simulator container. The Guth
laboratory glass container has a 500ml +/- fill mark. The solution
should never be less than 500 ml prior to inserting the top
housing.
6. Place the top housing assembly back into the solution containers.
Lift the solution container to meet the top housing and turn the
knob to tighten. Do not over tighten as this will result in cracking
the solution container.
7. After proper operating temperature is obtained, the simulator is
ready for use. Attach tubing to front of the simulator marked “TO
BREATH TESTER”. When manually operating the simulator,
take a deep breath and blow into the air inlet atop of simulator.
Blow for a 4-7 second duration. The blowing technique should
imitate a person providing a breath sample into the breath test
instrument. After the breath test sample is introduced into
Panther-I, Panther-I performs the analysis and provides a final
result. Rather than the blowing technique, a simulator bellows
pump, like model 590-AP can also fulfill the requirement of
providing air through the tubing attached to the simulator.

(3) Calibration Procedure for Equipment

30
Keyun Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd.—[Breath Alcohol Analyzer: Panther-I]
