The country’s prices of common goods and services are swelling since this past five

years. The administration of President Duterte is endorsing the tax reform law and
passes it to the excise tax on fuel. As January of year 2018 started the present
administration implemented the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law,
in which they will reduced the personal income taxes but increasing those taxes on the
sugar-sweetened beverages, and fuel. The issue of this TRAIN law has been sought to
deeper in these past few months. This law affects in many aspects of our economic
lives specifically to the poor people but in contrast there are advantages of this law to
our country. In my point about this issue is that this is the time for country for some
changes, also it is another fund for the allocation for our infrastructural landscape and it
would be a help to the middle class to ease there burdens into taxes.

Supporters of TRAIN Act concede that there are some considerable hikes in the taxed
impose on many consumer good and similar products, the reduction in income taxes
makes up for the hikes. It is the time has come for our outdated and rigid tax system,
which threatens both our economic vitality. The government in the past tax system,
simply can’t raise enough funds to deliver basic services to the needs of booming
economy and population. As Chief Economist Undersecretary Karl Chua stated that, the
past tax system has three main problems: There are too many exemptions; rates are
stagnant and unresponsive to new economic realities and bank secrecy laws that
prevent the government from assessing the revenue base of its citizens. This TRAIN act
aims to address all these issues by reducing, creating and updating tax rates across the
income taxes.
