3.3 GPRS
The GPRS option can be used to transfer log data as soon as they have been logged. It requires a GPRS
modem and an Internet connection with Flonidan GPRS gateway to receive data.
If more than one Uniflo is connected to the same GPRS modem, then it’s important that the Uniflo with
Modbus address 1-10 is updated with the number of slaves connected (under the tap “Miscellaneous”) and
the slaves has Modbus addresses in increasing order.
Transmission of logdata
When a logging in the intervallog occurs the unit sends the data via the GPRS network and the Internet to
the gateway, which receives and processes the data before saving them in a database.
If the transmission of data doesn’t succeed the first time a new attempt will be made after one minute, this
continues until the data has been delivered or a new logging has been made in which case the new data will
be transmitted.
To set up the communication controller for GPRS the following settings are needed.

3: Under APN-server type in the name of the suppliers APN, e.g. “internet”
4: Under APN-port type in the port number to transmit data to (usually 7000).
5: If a username and password is required for at APN, type in these under APN-username and
APN-password.
6: Type in the IP-address of the server to send log data to under Server IP-address.
7: If a different loginterval than what the Uniflo 1200 can deliver is wanted this can be entered under “Send
data every”. If this option is used be aware that the loginterval of the Unilfo 1200 must be less than the
derisred interval and the loginterval of the Uniflo 1200 must be divisible by the desired interval.
E.g. if a desired interval of 10 min. is wanted this can be entered under “send data every” and the
Uniflo 1200 must be set up to log every five min.
8: Press OK

4.1 Set up
Uniflo with modem
Set up as described for "Communication board connected directly to GSM modem" or "Communication
board connected directly to PSTN modem" type. This will be the Modbus MASTER.
When connecting Uniflo's together on a Bus it's important that all units have different "Modbus SLAVE
address". Typical the Master is given the "Modbus SLAVE address" "1-10", the first SLAVE is given the
"Modbus SLAVE address" "11-20", the second SLAVE is given the "Modbus SLAVE address" "21-30" and so
on.
Notice: Modbus SLAVE address" may only be changed when using optical head or Uniwire , not by
modem
It's recommended that the MASTER is first connected, set up and tested. Hereafter connect, set up and test
one SLAVE unit at the time.
4.2 Cables
Communication board to GSM/PSTN cable:
The communication board and the GSM/PSTN modem must be connected with a cable that transfers both
power supply and communication.
• +5V
• 2*GND
• TxD
• RxD
The cable is of type LIYY 5x0,34mm2 and it's always mounted on the GSM/PSTN modem.
On the GSM/PSTN modem the yellow wire can be placed in two different positions:
1) GSM/PSTN modem mounted with Backup board use position 1 (+5V BA)
2) GSM/PSTN modem without Backup board use position 2 (+5V MO)
Communication_board_230210.doc
The cable has also to be shielded and the cross section of each wire has to be greater than 0,2mm2.
When mounting the shield please be aware of ground loops and respect the general requirements set out for
connecting electronic devices.
The Bus connection has been tested with a LIYCY 5*0.14mm2 cable up to 100 meters.
