3.1 GSM modem

GSM modem may be used for conventional dial up (or dial back in case of alarm) and/or using SMS for
alarm message and recorded measuring values.
It's only possible to select either a dial back or a SMS transmission in case of an alarm.

GSM dial back in case of alarms

When an alarm is marked with "1: Dial" or "0: Dial" in the Alarm set up page and the alarm occurs/disappears
a GSM dial back to "Primary phone no" is started. When connection is established the content of the "ID-
string" is transmitted to the receiving application. Hereafter the communication board will change to Modbus
RTU mode and communication can begin.
If the call doesn't succeed the communication controller will retry 10 times on the "Primary phone no" and
then switch to "Secondary phone no" for another 10 retries.

The following settings are required to make a GSM dial back:

Primary phone no.: Phone no. for host computer receiving alarm calls.

Secondary phone no.: Phone no. to use, if primary phone no. is not responding (after having tried 10
times)

ID-string: Enter Uniflo ID-no. to send to host computer

Send ID: Must be marked.

GSM – SMS in case of alarms

When an alarm is marked with "1: Dial" or "0: Dial" in the Alarm set up page and the alarm occurs/disappears
a SMS is transmitted to "Primary phone no". The SMS contains the "ID string" and alarm status.

The following settings are required to make a GSM-SMS alarm transmission:

Primary phone no.: Phone no. for host computer or cellular phone receiving alarm SMS, country
code is optional but if included it must be preceded by a “+”.

Secondary phone no.: Not used.

ID-string: Enter a unique ID for the unit.

Send ID: Must NOT be marked.

3.2 PSTN modem

PSTN modem may only be used for conventional dial up (or dial back in case of alarm).

PSTN dial back in case of alarms

When an alarm is marked with "1: Dial" or "0: Dial" in the Alarm set up page and the alarm occurs/disappears
a PSTN dial back to "Primary phone no" is started.

The following settings are required to make a PSTN dial back:

Primary phone no.: Phone no. for host computer receiving alarm calls.

Secondary phone no.: Phone no. to use, if primary phone no. is not responding (after having tried 10
times)

ID-string: Enter Uniflo ID-no. to send to host computer

Send ID: Must be marked.

3.3 GPRS
The GPRS option can be used to transfer log data as soon as they have been logged. It requires a GPRS
modem and an Internet connection with Flonidan GPRS gateway to receive data.
If more than one Uniflo is connected to the same GPRS modem, then it’s important that the Uniflo with
Modbus address 1-10 is updated with the number of slaves connected (under the tap “Miscellaneous”) and
the slaves has Modbus addresses in increasing order.

Transmission of logdata

When a logging in the intervallog occurs the unit sends the data via the GPRS network and the Internet to
the gateway, which receives and processes the data before saving them in a database.

If the transmission of data doesn’t succeed the first time a new attempt will be made after one minute, this
continues until the data has been delivered or a new logging has been made in which case the new data will
be transmitted.

To set up the communication controller for GPRS the following settings are needed.

1: Choose GPRS from the connection type list.

2: Go to the GPRS tab

3: Under APN-server type in the name of the suppliers APN, e.g. “internet”

4: Under APN-port type in the port number to transmit data to (usually 7000).

5: If a username and password is required for at APN, type in these under APN-username and
APN-password.

6: Type in the IP-address of the server to send log data to under Server IP-address.

7: If a different loginterval than what the Uniflo 1200 can deliver is wanted this can be entered under “Send
data every”. If this option is used be aware that the loginterval of the Unilfo 1200 must be less than the
derisred interval and the loginterval of the Uniflo 1200 must be divisible by the desired interval.
E.g. if a desired interval of 10 min. is wanted this can be entered under “send data every” and the
Uniflo 1200 must be set up to log every five min.

8: Press OK

9: Press Write to write the settings to the communication controller.
