Index (GBI)
What is Green Building?
¾ A ‘Green Building’ is a building that is
designed and operated to reduce the
overall impact of the built environment on
its surroundings.

¾ Focused at increasing the efficiency of


resource use – energy, water, and
materials

¾ Reduced reducing building impact on


human health and the environment during
the building’s lifecycle

¾ Achieved through better siting, design,


construction, operation, maintenance, and
removal.
What is Green Building Index?
y The Green Building Index is an environmental rating
system for buildings developed by PAM & ACEM

y Green Building Index (GBI) is rating system for


evaluating the environmental design and
performance of Malaysian buildings based on
