Essential of Corporate Finance, Concise Ninth Edition,
Prerequisites: F ACCT 101, ECON 101, DS212, (DS/MATH 110, ISYS 263)
The Finance department requires that all students take these prerequisites
before enrolling in Finance 350. If students are blocked from registering due to
prerequisites, they should go to Student Services Center (BUS 112). Students in
the past who have not done well in this class either did not have a firm grasp of
the prerequisite material, or did not spend adequate time on the homework.
Course Evaluation
Quiz
There will be two quizzes. The quizzes will be based on examples in class and
homework problems. The quizzes are in the form of multiple choice questions,
consisting of a mix of conceptual questions and numerical problems and one
potential essay question. All quizzes are closed-book, closed-note. There are no
makeup or in-advance quizzes. If a student misses a quiz, he or she will
receive zero for this quiz. You need to bring pens or pencils, financial calculator,
and a scantron (form No. 882-ES, green color) to the quiz session.
Final Exam
The final exam is closed-book, closed-note, CUMULATIVE and covers all the
materials taught in the semester. There are no makeup or in-advance exams.
You need to bring pens or pencils, a calculator, and a scantron (form No. 882-
ES, green color) to the exam session.
Homework
You are expected to complete 2 homework assignments. Partial credit will be
given for the problem set questions as long as I see work and correct logic. No
partial credit for multiple choice questions. Homework problems are assigned
from the textbook.
Late Policy
All assignments and online discussion answers are late if they are not handed in
or posted by 11:59p.m.on the day they are due. Late assignments receive a 10%
deduction for each day they are late. Assignments more than four days late will
not be accepted unless the student and instructor have negotiated and mutually
agreed upon an alternative submission date. Technological issues are not
considered valid grounds for late assignment submission.
Grade Allocation
Grading Formula
• If you miss a class, it is entirely your responsibility to determine what you have
missed including any administrative announcements I may have made. Some of
the material covered on exams may not be in the text. Hence, you are urged to
attend class regularly.
• You cannot assume that all information needed for the examinations will be
presented in class. It is imperative that the textbook be read and studied.
• You are expected to come to class on time. Please show your respect to the
instructor and your fellow students by turning off your cell phone and all other
noise making electronic devices. Should you have to leave class early, please
have the courtesy of letting the instructor know before the beginning of the period
and leave quietly so as not to disturb the other members of the class. Otherwise
you may be deducted points.
In addition the Center reminds everyone that the following statement should be included
on all syllabi:
