Analysis

Comparing the result of star and delta connection, both of them have very distinct result. First
of all, the line voltage is same as its came from the source but the phase voltage will be
different as in star connection, the voltage has to pass through more resistance compare to
delta connection from line to line thus having more voltage drop.

For star connection, the current values either in phase or line are the same because the input
of phase current is directly from line current. Meanwhile in delta connection, the current from
line has to be divided into two paths before entering phase which make the current in in their
phase is smaller than their line current.

While analysing the power dissipated in each phase we must not forget power is directly
influenced or affected or determined by the squared value of phase current in each particular
connection. Since the phase current in star connection is smaller than in delta connection, the
power dissipated in star connection is smaller than the power dissipated in the delta
connection.

All of these properties give unique ability for each type of connection in doing their own task.

Discussion

In delta connection, the power dissipated is triple than the amount of power dissipated in the
star connection provided the voltage is in same magnitude.
