SECTION B: TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By entering the Competition, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. MPA may
supplement, modify, or remove any of these Terms and Conditions at its sole discretion.

A. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Q1: Can I participate in the Competition?

To participate in the Competition, you must be either: (a) a Singapore Citizen; (b) a Permanent
Resident; or (c) a foreigner with a valid Student Pass issued by a Singapore educational institution, and
you must be between 7 and 25 years of age (both numbers inclusive).

Q2: Who is not allowed to participate in the Competition?

You cannot participate if you are an employee of the Organisers or their affiliates and subsidiaries, or
the family member of such an employee. You also cannot participate if you are in any way whatsoever
connected to the organising or planning of the Competition.

B. COMPETITION CATEGORIES

Q3: How many categories are there for me to submit my poster design?

There are three categories for submission of the poster design.

Category Age group

Category 1 7-12 years old as at 31 Dec 2018

Category 2 13-18 years old as at 31 Dec 2018

Category 3 19-25 years old as at 31 Dec 2018

Q4: Can I submit more than 1 poster design for each Category?

You can submit more than 1 poster design for each Category. However, a maximum of only one poster
design per participant may be shortlisted for pre-judging for each category.

Q5: Can I work with others and submit the poster design as a group?
You can work with others on the poster designs. However, please note that when you submit the
poster design as a group, you must submit only one Entry Form containing one group member’s
personal details. Should your group’s poster design be selected as a winning Entry, the prize will be
awarded to that group member. The Organisers will not be responsible for any dispute arising from
your decision to submit an Entry as a group.
C. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Q6: Where do I submit my poster design and when must I submit it by?

All submissions must be made by email to training@sec.org.sg, by 6 July 2018 (Friday), 11.59 pm
(Singapore Local Time). Please note that MPA may extend the deadline at its sole discretion.
Participants will be notified of any change to the deadline.

Q7: What if there is a technical issue affecting my submission or my ability to submit on time?
The Organisers will not be responsible for any technical, hardware or software failure of any kind
whatsoever. You are responsible for ensuring that your email submission reaches the Organisers as
required.

Further, the Organisers shall neither be responsible for, nor obliged to open or accept your submission
if it is suspected or discovered to be accompanied by any malware, corrupt or corrupting code,
programme or macro, or if it cannot be opened as a result of any error, corrupted data or other
technical issue.

Q8: What must my email submission contain?

Your submission must contain the following two files as individual attachments, and all files must be
labelled with your name in full and the category you are entering (e.g. “Alan Tan Cat 1”):

(a) A duly completed “Section A: Entry Form” (the “Entry Form”); and
(b) A poster design entry (the “Entry”/ the “Entries”) that fulfils all of the following criteria:
a. In JPEG, TIFF or PDF format;
b. Maximum 5MB in file size;
c. Saved in RBG colour model;
d. A3 size (297 x 420mm).

Please note that your poster design entry must not be a photography submission. Photography
submissions will be disqualified.

Q9: What will cause my Entry to be disqualified?

Your Entry will be disqualified if:


(a) It is not completely in English;
(b) It is not your original work or you have copied parts of someone else’s work;
(c) It has been previously used for any commercial purpose, submitted for any other competition
or published for any reason whatsoever;
(d) It contains material which is obscene, libellous, defamatory, profane or otherwise
undesirable. Undesirable material includes material referring to violence, sex, offensive racial
or religious content or containing attacks on individuals or organisations; or
(e) It refers to or promotes the name or product of service of any person, company, organisation
or entity.

MPA may disqualify at its sole discretion, any Entry that does not meet any of the Eligibility Criteria in
Section A above or any of the Submission Requirements in Section C above.
D. SHORTLISTING AND JUDGING

Q10. What happens after I have submitted my Entry?

From each of the three categories, [MPA] will shortlist entries for final judging. Participants whose
Entries have been shortlisted must submit a high-resolution version of their Entry if asked to do so.

Q11. What happens at final judging?

At final judging, for each category, a panel of judges comprising the Organisers and representatives
from the design sector, education sector and non-governmental organisations (the “Judges”) will
select the winning Entries from the pool of shortlisted Entries.

Q12: What are the judging criteria?


The judging criteria are:

(a) Originality and creativity


(b) Relevance to the competition theme
(c) Visual appeal

E. ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS AND COLLECTION OF PRIZES

Q13. What are the prizes for each category?

There are three prizes for each category.

Q14: How will I know if I have won a prize?

If your Entry has been selected as one of the winning Entries, we will notify you by 31 August 2018,
(Friday), 11.59 pm (Singapore Local Time) through the email address you have provided in your Entry
Form. Our email will contain more details on the collection of your prize.

Q15: Must I collect my prize in person or can I authorise someone to collect it for me?

All prize winners must collect their prizes in person and bring along their NRIC or Student ID at the
time of collection. The Organisers may withhold your prize if you are unable to present valid
identification documents.
If you are unable to collect your prize in person, you can authorise someone to collect it on your behalf.
That person must have a copy of your NRIC or Student ID and a signed letter from you stating that you
have authorised him to collect the prize on your behalf.

Q16: What if I fail to collect my prize on the stipulated collection date?


The Organisers may choose to donate the uncollected prize money to a charity of their choice if you
fail to collect your prize by the stipulated date.

Q17: What happens to my prize if I fail to comply with any of these Terms and Conditions?

Your right to the prize will be immediately forfeited. If you have already collected your prize, you must
return all monies promptly to the Organisers, without the Organisers first requesting you to do so. The
Organisers may either donate the prize money to a charity of their choice or award the prize to a new
winner.

Q18: If I have not won a prize, can I appeal to the Judges to re-consider my submission?

The Judges’ decision on winning Entries are final and binding. They will not provide reasons for their
decision nor consider any appeal for re-consideration of your submission.

F. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND INDEMNITY

Q19. What happens to my poster design after I have submitted it for the Competition?

By entering this Competition, regardless of whether your entry is shortlisted or selected as a winning
design, you agree that MPA and any third party acting on its behalf shall have an irrevocable,
perpetual, exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide right to:

(a) Feature your Entry in print, online or in any other media for publicity, marketing or education
purposes; and
(b) Use your Entry for any commercial or production purposes that the Organises may deem fit,

and you agree not to use the submitted design for any other competition, or to put it to any other
public, or commercial use. MPA reserves the right to determine if it should cite the name of the
participant whose design is used.

Q20: If the Organisers use my poster design, will they make changes to it?

Basic digital image enhancement tools (e.g. sharpening, contrast adjustment, simple cropping etc.)
may be applied to your Entry.
Q21. What happens if my poster design is alleged or determined to be an infringement of someone
else’s intellectual property rights?

Your poster design must be your original work. If you have copied someone else’s work, you are fully
responsible for the consequences. You shall be required to fully indemnify the Organisers and their
directors, employees, officers and agents (the “Representatives”) against any and all losses, damages,
costs or expenses incurred or sustained by the Organisers and arising from or in connection with any
claim or proceeding that may, or that is, brought against the Organisers as a result of your submission
of, or the Organisers’ use of, your poster design.

Further, the Organisers and their Representatives will not be liable in any way whatsoever for any loss,
damage, expense or cost incurred or sustained by you and arising from any claim or proceeding
brought by a third party against you arising from or in connection with the design you have submitted.

G. OTHERS

Q22: What happens if my computer or device is damaged or infected as a result of my downloading


of the Competition Information Kit or use of the Competition’s website?

The Organisers shall not be responsible in any way whatsoever for any loss, injury or damage sustained
by your computer or device as a result of your downloading of the Competition Information Kit or use
of the Competition’s website.

Q23. In what situations may the Competition be suspended, discontinued or terminated?

MPA may, at any time, suspend, discontinue or terminate the Competition without prior notice.
Further, the Organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense howsoever arising,
incurred or to be incurred by you in connection with the Competition.

Q24: Where can I get the full set of Terms and Conditions governing this Competition?

The full set of Terms and Conditions governing this Competition is contained in this “Section B: Terms
and Conditions”. If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions, and any publicity
material regarding this Competition, these Terms and Conditions shall take precedence.

Q25. How will disputes relating to the Competition be resolved?

If there is a dispute relating to the Competition, such as regarding the eligibility of participants or the
validity of Entries or the shortlisting and selection process, MPA shall have the sole right to decide on
the dispute. Any decision of MPA shall be final and binding on all participants and no correspondence
contesting the same will be entertained by the Organisers. No person who is not a participant has
rights to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions.
