RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY
Graduate Research Assistant January 2018 – Present
Joined the group of Prof. Daniel P Raleigh, to examine the mode of islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP)
interactions with membranes and the role of IAPP-membrane interactions in toxicity after
completing rotation project to design, synthesize, and analyze analogs of IAPP that possess unique
solubility, folding, and kinetic properties.

St. John’s University, Queens, NY

Graduate Research Assistant November 2015 – August 2017
Collaborate with Richard J. Rosso, Ph.D. to design a method of synthesis for novel organic phosphine
ligands that contain an imidazolium tether for catalytic use in biphasic reaction media. These
compounds will then be evaluated based on their catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of complex
olefins. This project involved the use of various instruments, equipment, and techniques including,
but not limited to, 1H, 13C, 31P NMR, air-free reactions (using both a Schlenk Line and an Inert Gas
Glove Box), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, and pressure reactions using a bomb reactor.

Fordham University, Bronx, NY

Undergraduate Research Assistant September 2014 – May 2015
Worked with Martin J. DiGrandi, Ph.D. to design and carry out a series of experiments to attempt
the synthesis of a larger, heterocyclic compound from an aziridine starting material.

Fordham University, New York, NY

Undergraduate Research Assistant June 2014 – May 2015
Worked with Jason Z. Morris, Ph.D. to design and carry out a series of experiments to investigate the
relationship between the fried and su(var)2-10 loci in D. melanogaster. This project included the
development and use of a mating scheme, experiments involving natural feeding of the bacteria E.
carotovora, the creation and analysis of western blots, and fluorescence microscopy to detect
expression of a GFP balancing locus.

Undergraduate Research Assistant June 2013 – May 2014
Worked with Deborah C. Luckett, Ph.D. to design and carry out a series of experiments that have
produced evidence that passage number is directly related to senescence in human skin and lung
fibroblasts. Such experiments included β-galactosidase senescence assays and morphological
staining.
