Homage to the Three Jewels,

Homage to All the Tathagatas, the Arhats,

the Pure and Complete Buddhas,

Homage to the Supreme Avalokiteshvara,

the Bodhisattva, the Great Being,

that Great Compassion,

Thus, Om, Apprehending the Deity of Sound,

Apprehending the Deity of Form,

Translation of the Gilgit version:

Namo Ratna Trayaya,

Homage to the Three Jewels. The Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha Dharma-"the teachings
of the Buddha," but dharma is really more than just a label for Buddhist doctrines. Shanga - the
Buddhist community of monks, nuns, novices, and laity.

Namo Arya Jvana Sagara, Vairochana,

Homage to Buddha dan Bodhisatva Vairochana means “He Who Is Like the Sun” or “the Radiating One.”

Namo Sarwa Tathagate Bhyay,

Arahata Bhyah, Samyaksam Buddhe Bhyah.

Homage to all the tathāgatas of the past, future, and present, the arhats (someone who has attained the
goal of the religious life.) The samyaksambuddhas (samyaksambuddhas attain buddhahood, then decide
to teach others the truth they have discovered)

Namo Arya Avalokite, Shoraya Bodhisattvaya, Maha Sattvaya, Maha Karunikaya,

Homage to the Noble Avalokiteśvara, the bodhisattva, the mahāsattva, the Great Compassionate One.
Avalokiteśvara is a bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. Mahāsattva, meaning
literally "great being", is a great bodhisattva who has practiced Buddhism for a long time and reached a
very high level on the path to enlightment.

oṃ hold firm, hold firm, iṭṭe viṭṭe Oh Trembling One! Tembling One! Trembling One! Trembling One! Oh

[Notes: cale cale pracale pracale cannot be translated, as the translation from the Chinese in the link has
done, as 2nd person imperatives. These are most likely feminine vocatives—a very common feature in
dhāraṇīs—of calā and pracalā. This literally means trembling (or moving in general), an epithet for
lighting. It is probably describing the dhāraṇī as being like lightning in the speed and brilliance with
which it fulfills its effect. But these femine vocatives are always a little mysterious. kusumavare is also a
single fem. vocative, not kusuma + vare. iṭṭe viṭṭe ili mili viṭi are just mantric sounds, but they sound
strikingly Dravidian.]

Notes:
When you recite the Great Compassion Mantra, the heavens quake, and the earth trembles as the
dharani penetrates earth and heaven. If you recite it 108 times daily for a thousand days, chanting at the
same time every day without missing a day no matter how busy you are, then the 10 kings who are
directors in the hells in the courts of Lord Yama (Lord of Death) are delighted.” – The Venerable Master

This mantra is used for purification, protection, and healing. According to the Sutra, if we recite this
dharani successively with utmost sincerity and devotion, and vow to practice and meditate, it will help
us to relieve from all of our miseries.

Those who recite and hold the Mantra of Great Compassion (Da Bei Zhou) will not suffer any of these 15
kinds of bad death and will obtain the following 15 kinds of good birth:

They will always meet good friends.

They will always be born in a good country.
They will always be born at a good time.
Their place of birth will always have a good king.
Their family will be kind and harmonious.
Their heart will be pure and full in the way.
They will not violate the prohibitive precepts. (a general rule intended to regulate behavior or thought.)
The organs of their body will always be complete.
They will obtain everything they seek.
They will always obtain the help and respect of others.
Their riches will not be plundered. (steal (goods), typically using force and in a time of disorder.)
They will always have the necessary goods and wealth in abundance.
In the place where they are born, they will see the Buddha and hear the Dharma.
Dragons, gods, and good spirits will always protect them.
They will awaken to the profound meaning of that Proper Dharma which they hear.
