1 General
Test Universe 3.20 (Build 5250) is a major Test Universe release, supporting the new CMC 430 test set and
offering additional benefits and performance improvements.
Test Universe 3.20 can work with test files created with any previous Test Universe version, whereas files
created with Test Universe 3.20 cannot be opened with older Test Universe versions.
The major changes as compared with Test Universe 3.10 are listed in alphabetical order of the components.
Many other minor improvements and bug fixes not mentioned here are also implemented.

Changes are indicated with the build number of their introduction. Changes introduced with the most recent
update (build # 5300) to the major version 3.20 are shown in blue text.

The build number of your currently installed version is shown in a tooltip when hovering above the version
number (3.10 / 3.20) on the Test Universe start screen.

2 Global Features

2.1 #54464 / 78432 (Build 5250): Support of CMC 430

This test set is now selectable in the Hardware Configuration and supported by the Test Universe test
modules and tools.
The support includes the new binary input mode for AC signals (rectified and smoothed) in the Hardware
Configuration.

2.2 #76470 (Build 5250): Device Link for test set association
The new Device Link tool replaces former tools for test set association. It will be launched from ‘Test Set
Association’ on the Test Universe start screen.
Device Link is an easy-to-use setup tool that enables you to prepare OMICRON devices for use in testing
software (for example, Test Universe). It offers the required infrastructure to access and configure all devices
connected to your computer via USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi.
- Configure the IP address of a device.
- Upgrade the firmware of a CMC, ARCO, or CMS 356 device.
- Associate a device connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- Open the web interface</link> for device configuration.
- Set up a CMC NET-2, ARCO, or CMS 356 device as a new Wi-Fi network
- Connect a CMC NET-2, ARCO, or CMS 356 device to an existing Wi-Fi network
- Reset the Wi-Fi configuration of a CMC NET-2, ARCO, or CMS 356 device.

2.3 #69431 (Build 5300): Time Synchronization problems using older test files
When testing using CMGPS 588 and using test files created with older Test Universe versions the
synchronization could fail. This is fixed now.

3 Advanced Distance

3.1 #71977 / 71979 (Build 5300): Update problem of Test Model info in report
The related info (for example, when changing to ‘SIR and kS’ for Constant Source Impedance) is not shown
correctly. This is fixed now.

4 Control Center

4.1 #71178 etc (Build 5250): Performance enhancements

Several measures have been taken to improve the reaction speed and the perceived overall performance of
activities using Control Center, such as
- eliminating device communication where it is not essential to the operation,
- working offline,
- clearing all test results,
- improving copy/paste performance
- etc.
- One notable change is that you can now first add and arrange any number of test modules in the OCC
document without each module automatically starting up. This makes setting up a test structure much
more fluent. One effect to keep in mind is that the Global Test Object is only aware of RIO blocks
associated with the test modules after each module type has been opened once (e.g. to set the test
details), thereby initializing its RIO block(s). Alternatively, you can manually add RIO blocks in advance or
load an XRIO converter for the targeted relay type from the Protection Testing Library PTL which
contains all needed RIO blocks.

4.2 #68006 (Build 5300): Problem with scrollbar in report view

On some systems, dragging the scrollbar did not work. This is fixed now.

4.3 #107425 (Build 5300): Performance problems with large OCC files under
Windows 10
Some large OCC files could take very long to open under Windows 10 (no problem under Windows 7). This
problem is fixed now.

5 EnerLyzer Live
Since CMC 430 offers enhanced possibilities for transient recording, EnerLyzer Live is being introduced to
make use of these new features (e.g. live data streaming). EnerLyzer for CMCs prior to CMC 430 continues
to be the tool for these test sets.

5.1 EnerLyzer 1.1

NOTE: In case you received Test Universe 3.20 Build 5300 on DVD, EnerLyzer Live 1.1 is also installed. In
case you downloaded the Test Universe 3.20 update Build 5300 from the OMICRON website you need to
separately download and install EnerLyzer Live 1.1 (only needed for CMC 430) to benefit from its
improvements.

5.2 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Calculated signal
You can combine signals to create a calculated signal in the Signal pool. To define a calculated signal, you
need to add two or more signals as operands and choose at least one arithmetic operator (+, −, ×, ÷, or %).
You can also use a calculated signal or a constant for the signal calculation. You can drag and drop
calculated signals to the Dashboard or add them as trigger conditions in the same way as other signals.

5.3 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Calculation widget

The new Calculation widget shows user-defined calculations that combine two or more signals using
arithmetic operators. Each signal (operand) is bound to a cursor position, and these values are used for the
defined calculation. The unit of calculation for the calculated signal is automatically derived.

5.4 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Systems in Phasor widget

You can add up to four three-phase systems (voltage, current, or power) to a Phasor widget.

5.5 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Y-axis in Time signal widget

You can adjust the height of a Time signal widget as well as define the y-axis range using Auto-scale,
Auto-optimize, or Custom range.

5.6 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Live buffer length

You can define the length of the live buffer in the range of 1 ... 20 minutes.

5.7 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Use of binary inputs locked by Test Universe

The same binary inputs locked by Test Universe can be used in EnerLyzer Live with read-only settings (Dry
or Wet). To use the binary inputs exclusively in EnerLyzer Live, toggle the Use inputs exclusively switch
on.

5.8 (EnerLyzer 1.1) Harmonic signals as percentage values

Individual harmonic signals are represented in absolute or percentage values.

5.9 (EnerLyzer 1.1) COMTRADE 2013 file format export

You can export recordings as COMTRADE (a single .cff file) based on IEEE Std C37.111-2013.

6 Hardware Configuration

6.1 #94813 (Build 5300): Crash in Sync mode with CMC 430
Problem of internal logic related to the fact that for other CMC test set types binary input 10 is the default
synchronization input whereas CMC 430 only has 6 binary inputs. This is now fixed.

7 Harmonics

7.1 #101023 (Build 5300): Wrong Overload indication for harmonics entered as
absolute values
It could happen that a voltage overload indication appeared erroneously when using harmonics defined with
absolute values V, A. This is fixed now.

8 Import filters (for Test Object)

8.1 #76457 (Build 5250): Import filter for NSE Digisave / Kombisave relays,
Digicom software
This filter will be installed besides all other import filters, together with Test Universe.

8.2 #54426 (Build 5250): Up to 100 import error messages shown

Up to now a maximum of 100 warnings and error messages were shown during import. This could lead to
the suppression of error messages if the limit had already been reached with warnings. Test Universe now
supports up to 100 warnings plus up to 100 error messages in the Status History. This history can be copied
to an external program for further analysis or documentation (as in the past).

9 Meter

9.1 #87698 (Build 5250): Improved amplifier delay compensation

In case the actual fundamental frequency of the signal output deviates from the set nominal frequency, the
phase accuracy of the fundamental and harmonic signal components has been enhanced.

9.2 #99253 (Build 5300): Wrong counter assignment for the CMC 430 test set
The counter assignments for ‘Common’ and ‘Reference Meter’ were interchanged. This is fixed now.

10 PQ Signal Generator

10.1 #98114 (Build 5300): Certain states stop with error

This was the case when using time synchronization with NET-1 devices. This is now fixed.

10.2 #100725 (Build 5300): ‘Harmonics’ state wrongly marked as invalid

This happened under certain conditions and is fixed now.

11 Pulse Ramping

11.1 #104043 (Build 5300): Random crash during start-up

In rare cases the test module could crash in its start-up phase. This should be fixed now.

12 QuickCMC

12.1 #71082 (Build 5250): Support of virtual binary inputs/outputs

With the now implemented support of virtual signals QuickCMC supports e.g. ISIO 200 binary extension
units mapped via ISIO Connect.

12.2 #87698 (Build 5250): Improved amplifier delay compensation

In case the actual fundamental frequency of the signal output deviates from the set nominal frequency, the
phase angle accuracy has been enhanced.

13 Ramping

13.1 #68155 (Build 5300): XRIO links lost when changing the ramped signal
When properties of a ramp where defined using LinkToXRIO then this link was automatically removed when
the selected ramp signal was changed (e.g. from phase A to phase B). This is fixed now, allowing easy copy
and paste e.g. to ramp all three phases in succession while keeping the link in all ramps.

13.2 #98142 (Build 5300): Negative DC output not possible via LinkToXRIO
This is now fixed. Negative magnitudes are now also tolerated for AC signals, inverting the polarity (i.e.
adding 180° to the specified phase angle).

14 Sampled Values Configuration

14.1 #78178 / #11761 (Build 5250): Support of Sampled Values Edition 2

(IEC 61869-9)
You can now generate the new sampling and packet formats and specify the SmpSync treatment
(synchronization status) for the generated SV streams.

15 State Sequencer

15.1 #87698 (Build 5250): Improved amplifier delay compensation

In case the actual fundamental frequency of the signal output deviates from the set nominal frequency, the
phase angle accuracy has been enhanced.

16 Test Object / XRIO

16.1 #103705 (Build 5300): XRIO import error

Importing certain Test Object data (XRIO) into the Test Object of a PTT file (e.g. Siemens 7UM62x) could
cause an import error. This is fixed now.

16.2 #103187 (Build 5300): Crash on some PCs when opening a Test Object
This could happen with certain graphics board constellations. This is fixed now.

17 Transducer

17.1 #87698 (Build 5250): Improved amplifier delay compensation

In case the actual fundamental frequency of the signal output deviates from the set nominal frequency,
the phase angle accuracy has been enhanced.

18 TransView

18.1 #78171 (Build 5250): Full compatibility with Windows 10

Transview is updated to Version 4.59. This resolves problems with its Help system. It also supports the
selection of a range within COMTRADE files for fault analysis.
