Best Practices for Quality Education in Senior High Schools

1. Establish a culture of high expectations continuous

improvement bases on clearly identified core values.

2. Put in place a leadership structure that supports the

mission of the school and provides for leadership
transition.

3. Implement a rigorous curriculum driven by clearly

identified academic standards for success in college.

4. Use both in-school and out-of-school curricula to

support the acquisition of like skills and provide
significant exposure to both professional and higher
education environments.

5. Create a quantitative process to monitor student

growth over time in both academic and 21st century
skills.

6. Put an intervention system in place to identify and

support students who are not succeeding academically.

7. Build the school’s professional development program in

response to this performance evaluation system.

8. Engage both teachers and students in data analysis to

improve performance.

9. Establish an infrastructure for supporting student

access to and completion of college.
ORGANIZATION/STAFF
Essentially, RSST will be headed by the Members of
the Board of Trustees, School Administrator, the School
Principal and Assistant Principal who can devote quality
time to build up a quality educational institution and
maintain the status of being a center of excellence.
The primary responsibility of the Board of Trustees
is to provide policy oversight that will enable RSST to
become a center of excellence in the region.
The Principal on the other hand is responsible for
the management and day-to-day operations and business of
the school. The authority to exercise managerial powers is
delegated from the Board, which retains responsibility for
the overall governance of the School. The Principal
oversees the educational programs and developments in the
school (and in the broader educational community) and must
keep Board Members abreast of the issues.
Faculty may be hired directly by the school principal
after a rigid screening process. Hiring of faculty shall be
based on the needs of the school as well as the number of
students.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Logo/Emblem

RSST will be symbolized by a round emblem which means

the development of a learner should be holistic.

The leaves mean continuously growing and pursuit of

knowledge and wisdom.

The book symbolizes learning and the learner’s genuine

love for learning.

The atom symbolizes the bright future of every learner

that will seek education in the institution.

The torch serves as a symbol for knowledge, symbol for

the teachers who are the source of light and guidance while
in school.
The laurel wreath signifies triumph in developing and
molding learners to be Scientific Thinkers, Great Leaders,
and Great Communicators.

THE CURRICULUM

The STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering,

and Mathematics. This program was started by Judith A.
Ramaley, the former director of the National Science
Foundation’s education and human-resources division. This
approach to education is designed to revolutionize the
teaching of subject areas such as mathematics and science by
incorporating technology and engineering into regular
curriculum by creating a “meta-discipline.”

The four parts of STEM have been taught separately and most
of the time independent from each other for years. By adopting
the STEM philosophy Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics all play an integral part in the teaching of the
whole. The science, engineering, and mathematics fields are
made complete by the technology component that provides a
creative and innovative way to problem solve and apply what
has been learned.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

The academic programs have common Core subjects that are

aligned with the Department of Education’s curriculum guides,
as well as contextualized subjects, or those that are common
to all strands but are given a particular bend according to
the nature of the strand. Each strand likewise has specialized
subjects that prepare the students for the tertiary program
they intend to pursue.

SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS STRAND

The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Strand

offers the needed academic grounding for those who intend to
pursue tertiary programs that are geared toward the physical
sciences, mathematics, engineering and technology. It has an
immersion subject that provides a venue for the application
of the knowledge gained in both the contextualized and
specialized subjects.

Location
The school will be located along M.H. Del Pilar St. in
San Rafael Rodriguez Rizal. It will be built in a 1800 sq.
meters piece of land which complies to the government
requirement of 375 square meters.
Market Analysis

The school’s catchment area will be the whole

municipality of Rodriguez. It is a first-class,
urban municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. It
is the northernmost town in the province and comes after San
Mateo, Rizal, and Quezon City coming from Metro Manila. The
town is located on the slopes of the Sierra Madre mountain
range and features many resorts; it is the largest town in
Rizal province with an area of 312.70 km². According to the
2015 census, it has a population of 369,222 people, making it
the most populous municipality in the country. Rodriguez is
politically subdivided into 11 barangays. namely; SanJosé,
Burgos, Geronimo, Macabud, Mascap, San.Isidro, San.Rafael,
Balite, Manggahan Rosario and Puray.
There is no private school within its 50-meter
radius, however, competitors may include;
Infant Jesus Learning Center which is 1 kilometer away.
It offers a complete elementary and high school and senior
high school courses. With total school fees ranging from Php.
35 to 40 thousand. It has an estimated population of 500.
St. Joseph’s College of Rodriguez located about 2
kilometers away with a population of 750. It is a private
Catholic educational institution run by SFIC nuns. It offers
complete basic education and college.
Other private schools within the 3 to 4-kilometer radius
includes Roosevelt College, Virgen del Pilar Schools
considered to be premier established educational institutions
in the Municipality. Also within the 3 to 4-kilometer radius
are Eastern Valley Academy, Valley High Academy and Lord Most
High Christian School
ENROLLEES
Bulk of the enrollees may come from the major
subdivisions surrounding the school namely Eastwood
Greenview, Eastwood Residences, Eastwood Belleveu, Cortijos
de San Rafael, Eastwind and Centella Homes, and an upcoming
village Victoria Trails. Since school service is provided, it
may attract enrolees throughout the municipality.
It can be discerned that RSST despite the competition
will have an advantage because of the following;

1. State of the art facilities

2. Relatively lower school fees compared to the market
rates.
3. Accessibility
4. Security
5. Located away from the hustle and bustle of the major
roads.

6. Curriculum based on the needs of the society

7. Speech and language Laboratory

8. Sports and development programs

9. Extra-curricular activities

10. Provisions for sports development facilities

PROFITABILITY ANALYSIS
The simplest way of approximating profitability is to
assume the expected payment of students per year.
For instance, during its initial offering,
of the school will collect 15,000.00 on tuition fees alone,
there would be;
Grade 11 20 pax)- Php. 300,000.00
Grade 12A (35 pax) 525,000.00
Grade 12b (30 pax) 450,000.00
Total Php. 1,275,000.00

Since all the expenses are already accounted in the

capital expenses, it is safe to say that the total collection
can be safe kept which could be used for future development
of the school.
