SIP Forum’s SIPit 27 Slated for Taipei, Taiwan, November 15-19, 2010

ETSI's Centre for Testing and Interoperability to host five-day testing event in cooperation with the
Industrial Technology Research Institute; Registration now open.

North Andover, MA, October 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The SIP Forum has announced that its next SIP
Interoperability Testing event, SIPit 27, will be held November 15-19, 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan. The
international event, hosted by The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the
Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), is open for registration to any equipment vendor,
developer, carrier or other company dealing with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) implementations.

At SIPit 27, participating companies will test a variety of SIP-based applications and implementations in
assorted network environments and topologies. The upcoming Fall event expects to focus particular
attention on SIP security, including preventing exploit attacks, securing media in secure real-time
transport protocol (SRTP), and maintaining interoperability while exercising advanced real-time media
sessions such as those utilizing High Definition video. In addition, groups are expected to continue their
work related to IP peering and SIP trunking interoperability.

"SIPit 27 will once again bring together the world's foremost equipment vendors and service providers
across the IP communications industry to test and validate their SIP implementations in a live, real-world
IP network setting in Taipei, Taiwan, a center of communications technology in Asia,” said Marc Robins,
SIP Forum President and Managing Director. "In addition, the data compiled at the upcoming event will
be integrated into an upcoming interoperability report regarding RFC3261, the core SIP standard, aimed
at advancing the specification along the standards maturity ladder inside the IETF (Internet Engineering
Task Force).”

Conducted by the SIP Forum twice a year, SIPits are the world's premier interoperability testing events
for SIP, bringing together leading SIP application developers, service providers and IP communications
equipment manufacturers to ensure their SIP implementations work seamlessly together in an IP network
testing environment. An important goal of the SIPit events is to help refine both the SIP protocol and its
implementations in order to reinforce SIP as the global interoperable standard for real-time Internet
communication services.

“Over the course of 26 SIPit events, we have seen this program grow considerably to become one of the
most effective and important SIP testbeds for both implementations and specifications in the world,” said
Robert Sparks, chair of the SIP Forum's Test Event Working Group. “We have consistently attracted
participation from both past SIPit veterans and newcomers, as SIP continues to mature, and after every
event participants indicate that a week spent at SIPit provides results that would have taken months to
achieve with individual pair-wise testing.”

SIPit is organized by the SIP Forum's Test Event Working Group (TEWG) and serves as a “plugfest” for
participating companies to perform SIP interoperability testing with other participants in a live network
environment. Conducted twice a year, with events rotating in North America, Europe, and Asia, the SIP

Forum has hosted 26 SIPit events around the globe. The previous event, SIPit 26, was held in Kista,
Sweden in May of 2010, while the last SIPit event in Asia, SIPit 24, was held in Tokyo, Japan. Upcoming
events, SIPit 28 and SIPit 29, will be held in North America and Europe, respectively, in 2011.

Registration
SIPit 27 registration is now open, and companies interested in attending the event can register at

About the SIP Forum

The SIP Forum is an IP communications industry association that engages in numerous activities that
promote and advance SIP-based technology, such as the development of industry recommendations, the
SIPit interoperability and testing events, special interoperability workshops, educational seminars, and
general promotion of SIP in the industry. One of the Forum's notable technical activities is the
development of the SIPconnect Technical Recommendation -- a standards-based recommendation that
provides detailed guidelines for direct IP peering and interoperability between IP PBXs and VoIP service
provider networks. The SIPconnect Compliant Certification Program is an associated program through
which eligible companies can gain SIPconnect validation and the right to license the use of the SIP
Forum's 'SIPconnect Compliant' certification mark -- the official brand of the leading standard for SIP
Trunking products and services. Other important Forum initiatives include work in Fax-over-IP
interoperability, User Agent Configuration, and the opportunities for SIP in Smart Grid deployments. For
more information, please visit: http://www.sipforum.org.

About ETSI
ETSI produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT),
including fixed, mobile, radio, converged, aeronautical, broadcast and internet technologies and is
officially recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization. ETSI is an
independent, not-for-profit association whose 740 member companies and organizations, drawn from 62
countries across 5 continents worldwide, determine the ETSI work program and participate directly in its
work.

ETSI's complementary standards-enabling service (Interopolis and Forapolis) offer "Idea to Product"
solutions. Interopolis provides testing methodology expertise, including interoperability test events.
Forapolis provides a full range of support and management services to associations. For further
